2018 Audi Q5 Grabs Over 500 Bookings In India Within A Month Of Launch
The second generation of Audi Q5 has been the talk of the town since its introduction in the country. The next generation of the SUV was launched in India on January 18, 2018 and the German luxury automaker has claimed about receiving more than 500 bookings for the vehicle within a month of launch. Introduced at Rs 53.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Q5 is comes in two variants- Premium Plus and Technology.

The 2018 Audi Q5 underpins Audi’s MLB Evo platform that underpins the current-gen Audi Q7 too. Hence, the SUV has grown in size and has shed 100kgs of weight as well. Under the hood, the second-gen Audi Q5 comes powered by a new 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine which produces 187bhp and a peak torque of 400Nm. According to Audi, the SUV has a claimed top speed of 218kph and can sprint from 0-100kmph in 7.9 seconds as well as returns the fuel efficiency of 17.01kmpl. Apart from this, Audi’s patented Quattro all-wheel-drive system is offered as standard fitment. Although, currently the 2018 Q5 is available with diesel engine, the automaker will also be introducing a petrol engine as an option with the SUV later.
Talking about the highlights of the Q5, the SUV comes with features such as the fully digital Audi virtual cockpit, which displays graphics on its high-resolution 12.3-inch screen while the Technology variant also gets additional head-up display projects key information onto the windshield. Other highlights include heated steering wheel, seats with pneumatic massage function and ambient lighting along with Audi’s MMI interface and a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a three-zone climate control, a wireless mobile charging unit, Audi’s ‘virtual cockpit’ instrument cluster and a panoramic sunroof. The safety features offered are the new Q5 is five star rated by Euro NCAP and gets gets 8 airbags, Audi Parking System plus with rearview camera, auto hold function, electromechanical parking brake and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Measuring 4663mm in length, 2141mm in width and 1658mm in height, the new Audi Q5 is longer, wider and taller than the outgoing model by 344mm, 261mm and 5mm respectively along with a 12mm longer wheelbase standing at 2819mm. In the Indian market, the newly launched Audi Q5 takes against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, Lexus NX 300h and the new Volvo XC60.
