None of the automakers in the country want to stay behind their competitors at the 2018 Auto Expo and Maruti Suzuki being one of the most prominent among the automakers in India is leaving no stones unturned. The automaker has already created a buzz in the market in terms of revealing the Future S Concept as well as the new Maruti Suzuki Swift at the Expo this year. According to the reports in the market, Maruti Suzuki is all set to reveal the 2018 Ertiga at the event as well. Internally codenamed as the Maruti YHA, the reports also suggest that the company is also working on a Crossover MPV based on the Ertiga.

According to the reports in the market, new generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will be based on the lightweight HEARTECT platform and will be longer and wider, allowing better interior space for the third-row passengers as compared to the outgoing model. The MPV has also been spied testing in the country earlier and the spy images suggest that the vehicle will offer new LED tail lamps, redesigned rear bumper and tailgate and a high-mounted LED stop lamp.

In terms of powertrain, although nothing is revealed yet but going through the speculations, the next-gen Ertiga will come powered by a new diesel engine, the all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine that has been developed in-house by Maruti Suzuki. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission along with an optional automatic gearbox. The petrol engine is likely to remain the same in the form of 1.4-litre K14C unit or the automaker might introduce the 1.5-litre M15A petrol engine on the new Ertiga producing 109 BHP of power and 138 Nm of peak torque on the Indonesia-spec Suzuki S-Cross that is manufactured in India.

The first-gen Ertiga facelift was launched in October 2015 and comes with features such as electronically foldable outside rear view mirrors, push-button engine start-stop and Suzuki’s 7.0-inch SmartPlay infotainment system with MirrorLink connectivity among others. Expected to be launched somewhere around the festive season in 2018, the upcoming Ertiga might come priced between the range of Rs 7.0 lakh to Rs 12.5 lakh, ex-showroom.
