Like Mercedes-Benz, its high performance wing AMG is equally busy expanding its lineup. Now, Mercedes-AMG has added a new family member in the form of the new, mightier AMG E53 sedan model. The company has also gone ahead adding the coupe and cabriolet versions of the Mercedes-AMG E53 to replace the aging E43 range in its product lineup.
The Mercedes-AMG E53 lineup gets a comprehensive upgrade, as it features several updates on the outside as well as on the inside, gets technological upgrades and also mechanical upgrade. The new AMG E53 range comes equipped with a new 48-volt electrical system paired with the luxury automaker’s new inline-six, turbocharged petrol mill borrowed from the latest Mercedes-AMG CLS. The new Mercedes-AMG E53 lineup of cars will be hitting the showrooms of the U.S car market in August. This range of new AMG cars will be offered for sale only in the U.S.
When the visual updates are concerned, the new Mercedes-AMG E53 range of cars flaunts a distinctive styling and visual appeal. The front fascia comprises of an aggressively styled twin-blade radiator grille finished in silver chrome. There are patent AMG side sill panels to add to the dynamic appeal of the new E53 range. The rear styling comes with a new rear apron and round twin exhaust tips that grab the onlooker’s attention. The car gets a body coloured spoiler lip on its boot lid, while carbon-fibre finish option is also available.
Speaking about the interior of the new 2018 AMG-E53, there are a number of updates and changes as well. The E53 features an optional, fully digital widescreen cockpit that is offered in three styles for the buyers to choose from. These are namely - "Classic", "Sport" and "Progressive". The cabin has been rounded been upgraded further with the addition of Nappa leather wrapped standard-fit AMG performance steering wheel which also comes with individualization options in its grip area, including wood inserts in piano lacquer and Dinamica micro-fibre.
When the under the hood mechanical bits are concerned, the new Mercedes-AMG E53 lineup packs in a new inline-six bi-turbocharged petrol engine. This new petrol engine has made a comeback since it was discontinued back in 1999. This 3.0 liter inline-six bi-turbocharged petrol mill is capable of churning out a max power output of 429 bhp along with a top torque of 520 Nm. The powerful and refined petrol mill gets paired with a very sophisticated rapidly shifting 9 Speed AMG transmission gearbox. The car range boasts of the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ All Wheel Drive system and the sophisticated autonomous AMG Ride Control+ air suspension setup.
The German luxury auto giant has also introduced a mild hybrid system in the new E53 models. There’s the 48V system that operates as a separate source for the petrol motor along with the EQ Boost system. This new mild-hybrid system enhances the engine’s proficiency and enables it to offer better performance along with better fuel efficiency at the same time.
