German luxury auto major Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off its first purely battery-electric MPV concept model named as the Concept EQV, at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Mercedes-Benz Vans intends to launch a whole new range of production models based on the Concept EQV, the first production version of which will be introduced at the updating year's Frankfurt Auto Show.
As per Mercedes-Benz, the Concept EQV has a range of up to 400 kms on a single charge, while it is capable of rapid charging which can make it good to offer a travel range of 100 kms in just 15 minutes. The new Mercedes-Benz Concept EQV is a result of the consistent technology development of the Mercedes’ all-electric sub-brand - EQ that was found in 2016. The Concept EQ was the brand’s first model to be showcased, which was followed by the Concept EQA compact model in 2017. The EQ brand’s first production ready model – the EQC e-SUV was unveiled in September, 2018, and now in 2019, comes the Concept EQV that will be adding to the new brand’s expanding all-electric lineup.
This Mercedes-Benz Concept EQV is a luxurious, zero emission people model that offers accommodation of up to eight occupants with high luxury as well as practical quotients, while obviously being loaded with cutting-edge technology.
The Concept EQV has been equipped with a compact electric drivetrain (eATS) on the front axle, which offers 150 kW power. The compact drivetrain comprises of the electric motor, the transmission along with fixed transmission ratios, the power electronics and the cooling system, and all these are an integral part of the drivetrain. The concept luxury MPV draws its juice from a lithium-ion battery pack. The Concept EQV offers a top speed of 160 kmph. The EV concept model offers the convenience of charging it at home with a Mercedes-Benz wallbox or by utilizing a regular household plug socket.
Coming from the Mercedes EQ lineup, the new Concept EQV comes embowered by the brand’s electromobility ecosystem. This includes comprehensive advice and extensive services that includes charging infrastructure and modified navigation system that takes the battery charge level into account. This ecosystem also includes a whole range of apps for things like enabling control of the pre-entry climate control and cash-less payment options at charging stations.
The new Concept EQV looks futuristic and smart to befit its capabilities. It flaunts a chrome radiator grille with the signature illuminated LED band. The entire vehicle’s exterior gets a high-tech silver paint to heighten the futuristic EV visual appeal, while the bumper with its large air inlets and two thick chrome inserts add to the sportiness of the vehicle. The concept model gets highly stylized LED headlights and a smart profile with 19 inch dynamic looking light-alloy wheels to complete the high-end look.
The Mercedes-Benz EQV gets endowed with classy and elegant interior that’s packed with impressive techs and equipments including the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) empowered infotainment system, which offers a range of fascinating features and connectivity options including an AI voice control system.
Mercedes-Benz is planning to electrify its entire range by 2022, which means that all its existing models across all the segments will be soon getting electrified variants.
