2019 Hyundai Elantra Design
The 2019 Hyundai Elantra facelift packs a sharper styling with an all-LED headlamp cluster. At the rear, there are redesigned taillamps while the number plate is moved from the boot lid to the bumper. The alloy wheels get a new design, but at 16-inch, they haven’t gotten bigger or smaller compared to the outgoing Hyundai Elantra.
Inside, the cabin gets a dual-tone black and beige theme compared to the black interiors of the outgoing model.
The car is available in blue, white, silver, black and red colour options.
2019 Hyundai Elantra Engine
The 2019 Hyundai Elantra is powered by the BS6 version of the existing 2.0-litre petrol engine. The engine’s output remains intact at 152PS (@6200RPM) and 192Nm (@4000RPM) of power and torque, respectively. This engine continues to be available with a 6-speed manual transmission in the S and SX variants and with a 6-speed automatic transmission (torque converter) in the SX and the SX(O) variants. As per ARAI, this engine claims to deliver 14.6kmpl of fuel efficiency regardless of the transmission.
The biggest change in the powertrain department is the departure of the 1.6-litre diesel engine. Making it BS6 compliant would’ve most likely shot its price tag through the roof. In the same segment, the Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Octavia and Honda Civic are all available with a BS4 diesel engine option.
It remains to be seen if Hyundai has plans to bring the diesel Elantra back. If it does, the updated Elantra may get a more powerful version of the Kia Seltos' 1.5-litre BS6 diesel engine.
