2019 Renault Duster Facelift Launched In India At Rs 8 Lakh

by Jagdev Kalsi on Monday, Jul 08 2019

Pro tip: The Duster gets mild cosmetic changes, but the fact that there’s more standard kit now at the same price as before makes its entry-level variants more value for money.

Renault has launched the 2019 Duster in India with prices starting from Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Duster is available in three variants -- RXE, RXS, and RXZ. The version with automatic transmission (with both petrol and diesel engines) is available in RXS (Option) variant in the new model. While Renault is yet to reveal the variant-wise feature list of the updated Duster, the RXS (Option) variant is likely to include features like hill-start assist, ESC and traffic assist over the RXS variant. These features were available with the RXS variant with automatic transmission in the pre-facelift Duster as well.

Here’s a detailed price list of the 2019 Duster and the pre-facelift model:

While Renault has already stated that it doesn't plan to offer a diesel engine on any of its cars from April 2020, the carmaker is currently offering the 1.5-litre diesel engine on the 2019 Duster. The engine is still available in two outputs: 85PS & 110PS. It can be had with either a manual transmission or an AMT. The diesel-powered Duster with an output of 110PS can be had with AWD as well, like before.

The 1.5-litre petrol engine of the 2019 Duster continues to make 106PS of maximum power. It is available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT.

The updated Duster is longer than the outgoing model by 45mm, but the rest of the dimensions, including 205mm of ground clearance (210 in the case of Duster AWD) remain the same.

Changes on the outside include a bigger front grille, redesigned front bumper with a new design for fog lamp housing, refreshed headlamps that now include DRLs and new design for 16-inch alloy wheels. Renault has also added two new colour options: Caspian Blue and Mahogany Brown.

The interior of the 2019 Duster is an all-black affair. While most part of the dashboard looks similar to the outgoing version, the centrally-placed air-con vents are not circular anymore. The steering wheel is also different compared to the outgoing model, but still features audio system controls on a separate fixed stalk behind the steering wheel. The cabin features blue inserts, which were not there in the outgoing Duster.

Renault claims that the 2019 Duster gets 25 new features. The carmaker is yet to reveal the entire variant-wise features list for us to list the updates. What we certainly know is that features like dual front airbags, seatbelt reminder, rear parking sensors, and speed alerts are now standard. The 7-inch touchscreen MediaNAV infotainment system, which was on offer before as well with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, now features voice command as well.

Despite adding new standard features, the entry-level price of the 2019 Duster is the same as before, making it a better deal. The two most expensive variants before, the one with the AMT & AWD, also see a revision in prices. While the price of the Duster diesel AMT has gone up by Rs 40,000, the AWD version is now more affordable than before by Rs 60,000.
