Skoda India has announced that the Octavia RS is coming back. This time, in 245PS tune. Since it’s going to be an import, we expect the prices to be a fair bit above Rs. 30.0 lakh (ex-showroom). Skoda will showcase the car at the 2020 Auto Expo and probably announce the price at the showcase.
There will be no test drive cars and no demo cars. The orders will be taken from customers who want the Octavia RS 245 and delivered straight to them. Only 200 units of RS 245 are coming to India and if you are interested in getting one, then you can register your interest on Skoda’s official website:
This means, that the next-generation Octavia is probably not coming in 2020. At least not in the first half. The RS245 we’re getting is the same current-generation model of the sedan but with more power and torque. 15PS more power and 20Nm of additional torque - to be precise. The 2020 Skoda Octavia RS makes 245PS at 5000rpm and 370Nm of torque between 1500 and 4500rpm. There’ll be only one transmission available with the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine - a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. It sprints to 100kmph from standstill in 6.6 seconds - down from the 6.8-second time of the RS 230.
When it launched in 2017, it cost Rs. 24.62 lakh but it was assembled locally in India. This time it’s a full import and thus it will have higher taxes to bear. Skoda will showcase the car at the 2020 Auto Expo. We’ll find out about the prices either a few days before the expo or during the auto show.
