Being the base model, the Altrox XE petrol offers the necessary and mandatory basic convenience as well as safety features. This variant’s features list includes tilt-adjustable steering wheel, multiple drive modes, front power windows, 12V power outlet among others including thoughtful little utility features like an umbrella holder.
The only thing that might make you reconsider your purchase is its inability to accept an aftermarket music system.
In terms of safety features, the Altroz gets all the basics covered as well with 2 airbags, ABS, parking sensors and also offers ISOFIX child seat anchorage. The Altroz is the only car in its segment to have applied for and passed the Global NCAP tests with flying colours.
The only catch is that if you are on a tight budget and want to settle for the Altroz XE, you wouldn’t get the provision to fit an aftermarket music system. This would be a big thumbs down for the music lovers. This is where the XE Rhythm accessory pack comes in.
The Rhythm pack will offer you a 4-speaker music system and a remote central locking system and an additional horn over all that the XE offers for an added Rs. 25,000 premium. The Rhythm package costs more than what it offers, but without it you will have no music system in your Altroz XE because there’s no provision for installing a standard 8 X 2-inch or 8 X 4-inch music system.
Should You Buy The Tata Altroz XE Petrol?
The Tata Altrox XE petrol is a well-rounded variant in this premium hatchback’s range with an affordable price tag. If you are on a very strict budget and don’t really wish to stretch it, then the Altroz XE is a good pick for you. Its GNCAP 5-star safety rating may persuade you to consider the Altroz over another smaller hatchback. If you have the money to splurge more on your new car, then definitely go for a higher variant to enjoy more features.
When it comes to the XE Rhythm package, we don’t recommend it, as it offers less than what it is priced for. However, if you can’t do without a music system and neither do you wish to go for a higher variant, then the XE Rhythm has to be your pick.
