2020 Volkswagen T-Roc Launched - Features List Inside

Volkswagen recently launched the 2020 T-Roc in a single, fully-loaded variant for Rs. 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The car is imported as is but the price tag doesn’t look like that of a fully-imported car. Volkswagen could be taking a financial hit to make this car successful. Volkswagen has mentioned that this is an introductory price so it could be jacked up later.

2020 Volkswagen T-Roc Dimensions

The T-Roc compact SUV is in a tough spot. Price-wise it’s in line with Jeep Compass but more expensive than all compact SUVs and even some mid-size SUVs like MG Hector. But on the size front, it’s smaller than a Renault Duster in every way, which is half the price. The only compact SUVs that come closer to the T-Roc’s price tag are Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta but even then there’s a big premium to pay to get the T-Roc.

2020 Volkswagen T-Roc Engine Specs

The 2020 Volkswagen T-Roc has a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It’s capable of hitting 100kmph from standstill in 8.4 seconds. The turbo petrol engine makes 150PS of power at 5000rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1500 and 3500rpm. These performance figures are a bit better than what you get with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos’ turbo petrol engine.

2020 Volkswagen T-Roc Features

The new compact SUV from Volkswagen has a good number of features but probably not enough to justify the higher asking price compared to the top variants of the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. The most notable features that aren’t available in the two most popular compact SUVs are:

  • 2-zone automatic AC
  • 3-point seatbelt for all occupants
  • Locking wheel bolts to prevent theft
  • Heat-resistant windshield
  • Heated outside mirrors
  • Heated front seats
  • Height-adjustable front passenger seat
  • Leather seats

Do note that the T-Roc also doesn’t have many of the features that the either the Creta or the Seltos offers like:

  • Shades for rear seat occupants
  • Larger touchscreen
  • Voice commands
  • Internet connected features
  • 360-degree parking camera
  • 2 extra speakers
  • Premium sound system
  • Powered driver seat
  • Head-up display

Lack of such features makes it all the more difficult to justify spending almost Rs. 3.0 lakh more for the Volkswagen T-Roc.
