2023 BMW X1 And All-electric iX1 Break Cover | V3Cars

BMW have taken the wraps off the new-gen X1 and the all-electric iX1. The all new X1 comes with a new design both inside and out and packs several new features. The ICE-powered X1 will go on sale in October globally, followed by plug-in-hybrid and all-electric drivetrains later.

2023 BMW X1 — Exterior, Interior And Engine Options

The 2022 BMW X1 incorporates a sleeker and sportier design than all its predecessors. The front is now more upright and gets a bigger and taller kidney grille. The LED headlights are now slimmer than before and feature the inverted-L shaped LED DRLs. The M Sport models further add sportier bumpers and larger air intakes.

At the side, the X1 gets slim wheel-arch cladding and chrome surrounds for the window line. The size and design of the alloy wheels will vary as per the powertrain and variant. At the back, the new X1 features a tapering roof and a tailgate that bulges out. The tail lights are now sleeker tha before and the LED elements fall in line with the new BMW models.

On the inside, the new X1 features an all-new design for the dashboard. The X1 gets the connected screens like the new 7-series — a 10.25-inch instrument cluster for the driver and a 10.7-inch infotainment system. Furthermore, the new X1 offers rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, a sports steering wheel, BMW maps and 2-zone climate control as standard.

The new X1 one will initially come with a pair of petrol and diesel engine options. Speaking of the petrol engine options, the base 1.5L turbo petrol will produce 136PS whereas the 2.0 turbo petrol will produce 218PS. The latter comes with a mild-hybrid system with an assist of 19PS and 55Nm of torque. The 2.0L turbo diesel, on the other hand, will come in two states of tune —150PS and 197PS. Like the petrol engine, the more powerful diesel engine also gets the mild-hybrid assist. All the engine options come mated with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The First-ever All-electric iX1

The 2023 BMW iX1 is the first all-wheel-drive electric compact crossover in its segment. Its two electric motors mounted at each axle offer a combined power and torque output of 313PS and 494Nm respectively. Thanks to the added performance, the iX1 can do a 0-100kmph sprint in 5.7 seconds. The BMW iX1 will offer a claimed range of up to 438km on a single charge.
