New Kia MPV To Be Called Carens Clavis – To Offer ADAS, Panoramic Sunroof | V3Cars
Yesterday, Kia India teased their upcoming new MPV, which is set to debut on May 8. We have now learnt that the new MPV will be called the Carens Clavis. As expected, it will be positioned above the 2025 Carens and offer a few premium features to justify its premium positioning. Here’s everything we know about the 2025 Kia Carens Clavis so far.

2025 Kia Carens Clavis To Offer Redesigned Front And Rear
Based on the latest teaser, we can confirm that the 2025 Carens Clavis will offer different front and rear fascias compared to the standard Carens. The Carens Clavis not only looks sharper but rugged as well. Up front, the upcoming Carens Clavis borrows inspiration from the EV5 electric SUV, including new LED DRLs and tri-LED headlamps. The bumper features chunky silver skid plate while the bonnet is set high and flat, giving the new Carens Clavis a rugged SUV-like appeal.
The only change around the side are new alloy wheel designs. At the rear, the Carens Clavis offers LED connected tail lamp with updated graphics as seen on the Kia Syros. The tailgate features the Kia logo as well as the Carens Clavis badge.
Overall, the 2025 Carens Clavis looks rugged thanks to these design updates and we expect Kia to position it above the Carens and offer it as an alternative to 7-seater SUVs such as the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and the Mahindra XUV700 7-seater.
While the standard Kia Carens is priced from Rs. 10.90 lakh to Rs. 19.70 lakh, we expect the new Carens Clavis to get a price tag ranging from Rs. 14.5 lakh to Rs. 21.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
2025 Kia Carens Clavis To Offer ADAS, Panoramic Sunroof
The latest teaser as well as spy shots from the recent past confirm that the new Carens Clavis will offer a few premium features that are not offered with the standard Carens. First off, the Carens Clavis will offer Level-2 ADAS with features such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist and more.
Some of you may remember that the Carens made between May to December 2023 scored 0 stars for adult occupant protection in the Global NCAP crash tests. Kia then updated the structure of the MPV, after which it scored a 3-star rating for adult occupant protection. We expect the inclusion of ADAS should help the Carens Clavis to earn a better safety rating compared to the standard Carens.
Apart from ADAS, we can also confirm the Carens Clavis will offer a panoramic sunroof, which is a feature that is currently not available in the standard Carens.
Opinion – Kia Unlikely To Offer New Kia Carens Clavis With Normal Petrol Engine
In terms of powertrain options, we expect Kia to follow the same logic as the Syros and Sonet. While the Syros and Sonet are both B2-segment SUVs, the former is positioned as a more premium alternative to the latter. Thus, it only offers Kia’s turbocharged engine options and does not get the 1.2L normal petrol engine. Similarly, the Carens is available with a 1.5L normal petrol, 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engine options. However, considering its more premium positioning, we expect Kia to offer the Carens Clavis with only the 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engines.
The 1.5L turbo petrol engine offers 160PS of power and 253Nm of torque. In the Carens, this engine is available with 2 transmission options – a 6-speed ACMT and 7-speed DCT automatic. The 1.5L diesel engine, which produces 116PS and 250Nm, gets 2 transmission options – 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic, in the Carens.
2025 Kia Carens Clavis EV In The Pipeline
We have spotted Kia testing the Carens electric multiple times over the past year. Since the Carens Clavis already borrows design cues from Kia’s EVs such as the EV5, We expect the all-electric Carens to be based on the Carens Clavis rather than the standard Carens.
While the exact launch timeline of the Carens EV is yet to be revealed, various spy shots from the last couple of months suggest it is getting closer to hitting the production line. We expect the Carens Clavis EV to borrow several components from the Hyundai Creta EV. Thus, the Carens EV could be offered with a choice of 2 battery packs – 42kWh and 51.4kWh.
