Mahindra have just announced the prices of the 2025 Thar and it now starts at a lower Rs. 9.99 lakh ex-showroom price. This is the same price at which it launched in early January 2023 with 1.5L turbo diesel-manual and a rear-wheel drivetrain. However, the prices of the higher variants have gone up as the top model now costs Rs. 16.99 lakh against Rs. 16.61 lakh earlier with the GST updates.

Here’s the full price list of Thar 2025:
As you can see, the variant names are changed and AX has become AXT while LX has become LXT. The prices of soft top variants are not available at the moment and they may be discontinued after the Thar’s mid life update.

On the pricing front, the Thar has become expensive across the board with prices going up by 1.94 to 3.25%. In absolute terms, this is a hike of Rs. 29,500 to Rs. 41,400. On the flip side, the base variant’s prices have gone down by 3.16% or Rs. 32,600. However, this drop should not affect Mahindra’s bottomline as the Thar’s base diesel engine with base variant doesn’t sell in enough numbers. Whether the buyers jump to the higher variant due to sales teams’ nudging or outright rejecting to sell is something we’ll leave up to you to guess. But, if it did sell in half decent numbers, we would have seen some Thar base trims with steel wheels on the roads by now.
Let’s first get through the features of the Thar base model.
The base variant of the new Thar 2025 now gets the following additional features:
