2026 Kia Sorento Powertrain Specifications
The Kia Sorento is available with 2 engine options – a 1.6L turbo petrol strong-hybrid and a 2.2L turbo diesel. The petrol-hybrid powertrain produces 178PS and 265Nm, while the diesel engine delivers 193PS and 442Nm.
The hybrid powertrain is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel engine uses an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).
One of the key highlights of the Sorento is that both powertrains are available with FWD and 4WD configurations. This gives buyers the option of choosing the more efficient front-wheel-drive setup or the added traction of an all-wheel-drive system.
The Sorento is available with both 6-seat and 7-seat configurations. The 6-seat layout, which features captain seats in the 2nd row, is available from the HTK variant onwards.
The 7-seat version gets a conventional second-row bench, making it more suitable for buyers who prioritise maximum passenger capacity.
The Sorento offers 179 litres of luggage space with all 3 rows in use, which increases to up to 1,996 litres with the rear seats folded.
One of the most notable technology highlights of the new Sorento is Kia Live Generative AI, which brings generative-AI-based voice interaction to the SUV.
The system is designed to allow occupants to interact with the car using natural-language voice commands, while also providing information and assistance through the connected car system.
The Sorento also gets connected car technology and a suite of modern infotainment features, including wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Sorento adopts Kia’s latest global SUV design language, with an upright stance and a more muscular appearance than the previous-generation model.
Key exterior highlights include:
The upright front-end design, squared-off body and vertical lighting elements give the Sorento a more substantial road presence, helping differentiate it from Kia’s smaller SUVs.
Inside, the Sorento gets a premium cabin designed around its 3-row layout. The SUV features dual large displays and a range of comfort and convenience features.
Key features include:
The Sorento is available with 2 interior themes:

The Kia Sorento is positioned in the premium D2-segment and will rival models such as the Toyota Fortuner and MG Majestor. It can also be considered as an alternative to the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron. It also sits below the larger Kia Carnival in the brand’s portfolio.
With a choice of petrol-hybrid and diesel engines, FWD and 4WD configurations, 2 seating layouts and a long list of premium features, the Sorento is Kia’s latest attempt to strengthen its presence in the premium SUV segment.
