2026 Tata Altroz CNG-AMT Launched At Rs. 8.7 Lakh | V3Cars
Tata Motors have expanded the 2026 Altroz lineup with the launch of an AMT gearbox option for the CNG variants. With this update, the Altroz becomes the first and currently the only B2-segment hatchback in India to offer a factory-fitted CNG powertrain with an automatic transmission.
Prices for the Altroz CNG AMT range start from Rs 8.69 lakh and go up to Rs 10.76 lakh (ex-showroom). The addition of the AMT option further strengthens the Altroz’s position as one of the most versatile hatchbacks in its segment, especially considering it is also the only B2-segment hatchback to continue offering a diesel engine.

First B2-Segment Hatchback With CNG + Automatic Combination
Most CNG-powered hatchbacks continue to offer only manual transmissions. Meanwhile, Tata now offers 2 hatchbacks with CNG automatic combo in the form of the Tiago CNG and Altroz CNG.
The Altroz CNG uses Tata’s 1.2L engine producing 74PS and 103Nm while running on CNG. With the addition of the AMT gearbox, the Altroz CNG is now better suited for daily city commutes and traffic-heavy driving conditions.
Tata also continue to offer features such as direct start in CNG mode and a single ECU setup that allows seamless switching between petrol and CNG operation.
Twin-Cylinder Technology Continues To Be A Key Highlight
One of the biggest advantages of the Altroz CNG remains Tata’s twin-cylinder tank layout. Unlike conventional CNG cars that sacrifice most of the boot space for a large single cylinder, the Altroz uses 2 smaller cylinders positioned beneath the luggage floor.
This allows the hatchback to retain a usable 210-litre boot even in CNG form, making it significantly more practical than many rival CNG hatchbacks.
Tata Altroz CNG Top Features And Safety
The Altroz CNG-AMT carries forward the updated design and interior layout introduced with the Altroz facelift. Key highlights include flush-fitting door handles, connected LED tail lamps and LED projector headlamps.
Inside, the hatchback offers Tata’s new dual-screen setup comprising a digital driver’s display and a touchscreen infotainment system sourced from Harman. Other premium touches include ambient lighting, soft-touch dashboard materials and lounge-style rear seats.
The Altroz continues to be among the safest hatchbacks on sale in India. Built on Tata’s ALFA platform, the hatchback holds a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating across petrol, diesel and CNG versions.
Safety features include:
- 6 airbags
- Electronic stability program (ESP)
- ISOFIX child seat mounts
- Reverse parking sensors
- 360-degree camera
- Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
