9 Features Hyundai i20 Gets But Maruti Nexa Baleno Doesn’t | V3Cars

The Hyundai i20, which replaced the Getz, was the first premium hatchback in India. It continues to remain the most feature-loaded car in its segment. However, since its launch, the premium hatchback has seen new contenders and the Baleno is famous for its design and fuel efficiency.

Features Hyundai i20 Gets But Are Missing In Maruti Nexa Baleno

In this article, we share features that are available in the Hyundai i20 but absent in the Maruti Nexa Baleno.

1. Tyre Pressure Monitoring System

The top variants of the Hyundai i20 come with a tyre pressure monitoring system. It tells the real-time pressure of each tyre. It also alerts the driver in case of an underinflated tyre or a puncture. This feature is absent in the Baleno, and we think every new car in this segment should have this safety feature.

2. Cornering Lamps

The top variants of the Hyundai i20 offer cornering lamps that improve the driving experience at night. Cornering lamps light up the corners of the road while you make a turn, thus improving visibility.

3. Subwoofer

While the i20 and Baleno get a premium sound system from Bose and Arkamys, respectively, the i20 also gets a subwoofer. On paper, it should offer better bass and audio separation over the Baleno.

4. Cooled Glove Box

The top variants of the i20 offer a cooled glove box, which retains the temperature of your drinks and medicines. However, the cooling isn’t effective enough to decrease the temperature of your beverages.

5. Puddle Lamps

The top variant of the i20 also offer puddle lamps mounted on the ORVMs. They light up the car’s surroundings to help you watch your step while getting in and out.

6. Wireless Phone Charger

The i20 offers a wireless phone charger with a cooling pad and ambient lighting. It is worth mentioning that the mid variants of the i20 also get wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. These features are missing in the new Baleno. However, Maruti Suzuki could add wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay via an OTA update in the Baleno.

7. Sunroof

The top variants of the new i20 come with an electric sunroof. Currently, the i20 and Honda Jazz are the only 2 premium hatchbacks in the segment to offer a sunroof.

8. Shark-fin Antenna

The Hyundai i20 comes with a shark fin antenna, which offers better looks, reception and durability. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno, on the other hand, comes with a regular antenna.

9. Rear Disc Brakes

While the standard i20 comes with drum brakes at the rear, the i20 N Line offers rear disc brakes for better stopping power and feedback. The Baleno comes with drum brakes at the rear on all variants.
