Additional Safety Features To Be Offered With 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift is all set to be launched on 20th August and ahead of its launch, the details about the features, powertrain and variants have already surfaced online. Now, the latest reports say that the upcoming 2018 Ciaz facelift will be offered with a number of additional safety features.
According to the reports, a new system will be available in the facelifted Maruti Ciaz at the time of launch and will feature a speed safety alert function that will inform the driver if she/he goes above a certain speed as well are well aware that the Indian roads are already prone to accidents, and unregulated traffic rules lead to the death of thousands across our country. The new system will enforce the 80 kmph speed limit, which is the normal speed limit of almost all Indian roads. The alarm will beep twice whenever the driver crosses the above speed. In case the driver chooses to go beyond 120 kmph, the alarm will keep beeping continuously as a reminder of the increased speed. Basically, the alarm system will act as a virtual cop and will enforce the speed limit on the driver in order to prevent over speeding and rash driving by a significant margin.
Also, the upcoming Ciaz facelift will also feature a seatbelt reminder for both driver and front passenger. Currently, the Ciaz comes with a seatbelt reminder for only the driver. However, the facelifted model will offer a seatbelt reminder for the front passenger also in compliance with the upcoming more stringent safety norms. The new safety features will be available across all the variants of the updated Ciaz.
Earlier, the variant details of the upcoming sedan got leaked suggesting that the 2018 Ciaz will be available in 4 trim variants – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. All the trims will get dual airbags and ABS as standard as safety features. The major highlights include an updated front-end comprising of a sleeker grille, bolder bumper and updated headlamps with LED DRLs and LED projector lights. At the rear, the Ciaz will have a new set of tail lights, while on the inside the upcoming Ciaz gets a new instrument cluster and multi-info display with cruise control, a lighter shade for the faux wood trim, an updated infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a new tachometer, electric sunroof and new upholstery for the seats and door pads as well as adjustable rear headrests.;
Mechanically, the updated Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will come powered by Suzuki’s new 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine will replace the outgoing car’s 1.4-litre K14B motor. The new engine will be capable of making 104 hp of maximum and 138.4 Nm of peak torque, which is 12 hp and 8.4 Nm more than that of the outgoing unit. On the other hand, the diesel variants will offer the same Fiat-sourced D13A 1.3-litre unit producing 89 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. Both the powertrains will be benefited with the SHVS mild hybrid technology and the conventional 5-speed manual gearbox is standard across the carline, while a 4-speed automatic transmission will be offered only on select petrol trims (Delta, Zeta and Alpha). Also, though the official fuel efficiancy figures of the new Maruti Ciaz 2018 facelift are yet to be revealed by the carmaker, the reports suggest that its petrol will deliver a fuel economy of 21.56 kmpl in manual transmission and 20.28 kmpl in automatic transmission mode making the sedan slightly more fuel efficient than the outgoing 1.4L petrol engine that returns 20.73 kmpl for the manual and 19.12 kmpl for the automatic.
Maruti Suzuki has already commenced the advanced bookings for the updates Ciaz at Nexa dealerships for an amount of Rs 11,000. Dealerships are also offering deals on remaining stock of the outgoing model of the Ciaz. The outgoing Ciaz model is currently priced from Rs 7.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated Ciaz facelift will continue to rival the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.
