by contentdeveloper on Saturday, Oct 21 2017

The world’s auto industry is going gaga over the Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs). The good old tough and sturdy SUVs have been always loved for their off-road handling capabilities, but when comfort and luxury were considered, the premium or luxury sedans were always more favoured. When it came to styling and being a family vehicle also, SUVs were not that popular earlier, as these were generally associated with boxy design and brute force. However, the modern auto market has changed all this, and the new-age SUVs are all about style, comfort, space and luxury, while also retaining the powerful performance and dominating aspects of the conventional SUVs. The new contemporary SUVs are thus, engulfing the demands for vehicles belonging to almost all the other segments. While SUVs come in all shapes and sizes nowadays and all of them are gaining great attention, the premium full-sized SUVs are becoming more popular than ever before. Taking the advantage of the massively popular global SUV market, Mercedes-Benz is all set to recast its spell with the next generation Mercedes-Benz GLS.

The German luxury auto giant has been known to be working on the new generation GLS SUV for quite some time now.  The all new Mercedes-Benz GLS luxury SUV has been spied testing on quite a few occasions and is all set to go on sale in 2019. Mercedes will be making its highly popular and capable GLS all the more alluring to grab the attention of the global buyers. The next-gen GLS is said to be more stylish, much more premium and luxurious and packed to the brim with advanced technology. It will also come with a new platform which will make it sturdier, safer and lighter than before. This as a result will ensure that the luxury SUV will offer better performance and more agile ride and handling.

The new 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS will be based on the company's Modular High Architecture meant for the SUVs and crossovers. The new platform will offer big upgrades for the new GLS. The all new GLS is also expected to look very contemporary and stylish with a sleeker visual appeal, while retaining its basic boxy silhouette. Mercedes will endow new engines and cutting-edge autonomous driving capabilities to the SUV. In short, the popular GLS will be to the company’s SUV portfolio, what the S-Class is in its sedan range.

The all new 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS should also offer increased fuel economy. The SUV is expected to get equipped with the same 6 and 8 cylinder turbocharged engines which have been added to the new S-class lineup.

Mercedes-Benz is also speculated to offer an ultra-luxury Mayback version of the new GLS, as the platform change would be able to facilitate such a model which was not possible in the current-gen model. It is being speculated that the switch over to the new MHA platform could lead the way to GLS offering a Maybach version by 2020 or early 2021.
