Mitsubishi is active in India again and it has just launched the all new 2018 Outlander SUV in the domestic car market of the country. The new generation 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4L 4WD SUV equipped with a CVT gearbox has been priced at Rs. 31.95 lakhs (ex-showroom). The popular Outlander brand has returned to the car market of India after a long hiatus, since it was discontinued in India due to poor market performance. Mitsubishi Outlander is a very popular name among the Mitsubishi SUV aficionados who want a milder alternative to the acclaimed Pajero.
The all new 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander comes with a full design overhaul and adopts Mitsubishi’s new design language. This makes the new-gen Outlander SUV come with a more premium visual appearance as compared against its predecessor. The new model comes with a much bolder styling along with a more aggressive front fascia unlike its predecessor which shared design cues with the Mitsubishi EVO X which was also offered in sale in India for a very brief period.
Despite the diesel SUV loving people in India, the Japanese automaker has again chose to launch only the petrol engine version of the Outlander SUV in our market. The new generation Mitsubishi Outlander comes equipped by the familiar 2.4 litre naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder petrol engine. The petrol mill is capable of generating a max power output of 167 PS along with 222 Nm top torque just like before. The petrol mill gets paired with a CVT gearbox which offers choosing the ratios through steering mounted paddle shifters.
The all new 2018 Outlander comes equipped with an All Wheel Drive system which offers power primarily to the front wheels of the SUV, but transmits the generated power to all the four wheels as and when the driving situation demands, when the vehicle is in auto mode. There is also a dedicated button to lock the AWD. The SUV model also offers other off-road specific technology other than the on demand AWD, such as ESP, electronic differential lock and hill hold system to offer a better overall drive experience on all driving situations.
The new-gen 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander 7-seater SUV also comes with an updated interior as well. The Japanese auto maker has endowed a much up-class and contemporary look and feel on the cabin of the new Outlander. The SUV also gets a 6.6 inch touchscreen display screen for the infotainment unit.
The new Outlander comes equipped with great features such as seven airbags, smart keyless entry, dual-zone climate control and a Rockford Fosgate music system along with a woofer that is placed in the vehicle’s boot to offer great in-car audio experience.
The all new Mitsubishi Outlander SUV will be locking its horns primarily with the likes of the upcoming new generation Honda CR-V SUV which will come with a first time 7-seater configuration in India. However, the Outlander has many other indirect rivals which include the likes of the very popular Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in the Indian 7-seater premium SUV market.
