In this April 2022 cars sales analysis article, we’ll look at the body style-wise sales figures along with the YoY and MoM change for each carmaker in India. We’ll also include our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable.
Body-Wise April 2022 Car Sales - YoY Change
- In terms of YoY change, the sedans are witnessing a comeback with an YoY improvement of 202%
- SUVs sales shrunk 54% YoY in April 2022
- Demand for MPVs and hatchbacks remained flat-ish in April compared to April 2021 sales figures
Body-Wise April 2022 Car Sales - MoM Change
- Almost all mass-market body styles saw a drop in MoM demand
- Sedans lost 25% sales and were the biggest loser
- Pickup segment saw a 616% MoM gain
- If you ignore the low-volume pickup segment’s skewed numbers, then MPV comes out as the biggest gainer posting 20.5% better MoM sales figures
