German luxury automaker Audi had revealed the Q8 concept at the the 2017 Detroit Motor Show and since then there has been a buzz regarding the introduction of the production spec of the SUV in the market as Audi had stated that the vehicle will be making its way to the market in 2018. However, confirming the revelation, Audi's Head of Research and Development, Peter Mertens, said that the Q8 SUV will be making it to the market by June 2018.
According to Peter Mertens, the Q8 represents the new face of Audi and though it's more like a coupe-like SUV. Also, there will be a close relation to the Q7 and both the cars will share a production line at Audi's plant in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Audi Q8, the new flagship SUV will be revealed at a special event in Shanghai in June and it's because the company is celebrating 30 years of producing cars in China. The company has already said that it will be doubling its production in the country in the next 5 years and the biggest contributor to this will be the SUVs. However, the powertrain, design and features details are still under cover and will be revealed once the luxury automaker will reveal the production spec of the SUV but we can definitely expect the SUV to come powered by a 3-litre V6 with more than 350 bhp.
However, if it stays true to the concept, it will depart from the Q7’s boxier styling for a more organic yet chiseled look, with bigger hips, a wider grille, and a more rakish cabin. Like the concept, it will likely be evocative of a sporty car more like the BMW X6 while the interior of the car is expected to be inspired by Audi’s flagship sedan, the A8. In order to understand about the upcoming Q8, these details are not enough at all as these are more on the speculation side.
Currently, Audi has been extensively testing the Q8 SUV across the world, but we would definitely like it to be tested in the Indian roads soon so as to get the spy-shots as well as the designing details of the car. When launched, the 2018 Audi Q8 will rival cars such as the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. Stay tuned to V3cars.com for further updates on the upcoming Audi Q8.
