French car maker Renault is betting big on the Indian car market. India is touted to become the third largest car market in the world soon, and in keeping with the expectations, it is growing at a rapid pace. Hence, the global auto majors are all very keen on reinforcing their position in India, and Renault is no exception. Year 2019 is knocking at the door, and Renault India is ready with big plans for the New Year with not one, but three car launches.
Renault is going to launch the 2019 updated Kwid, 2019 all new Duster and a brand new MPV model, which is still known by its codename RBC. Renault has already announced that the company is aiming to launch an all-new model in India every year as part of its development strategy for the country. The brand new Renault MPV is expected to launch first in India in 2019, followed by the Renault Duster facelift launch, while the Renault Kwid facelift is expected to come during the festive season of 2019.
The codenamed Renault RBC MPV has been testing in India for quite some time now. It is going to be a sub-4 metre MPV model and is based on the CMF-A platform. Going by the several spy pictures of the RBC, it can be said that it will get LED daytime running lights and a brand new grille design. The RBC is likely to share the 1.0L engine with the Kwid hatchback, but is expected to be tune to offer better power figures.
The Renault RBC MPV is expected to be feature-rich little MPV laden with a touchscreen infotainment unit and digital instrument cluster. It would offer good safety features as well, including expected ABS and dual airbags as standard and rear parking sensors.
The all new Renault Duster is likely to hit the Indian market by mid-2019. The SUV is based on the Renault-Nissan CMF-B platform. The new-gen Duster is also expected to come along with a 7-seat option.
The all new Renault Duster compact SUV is likely to carry over the same 1.5L dCi and a 1.6L diesel engine option. However, Renault is expected to tune the motors to offer enhanced performance and fuel economy.
Lastly, the new refreshed 2019 Renault Kwid will retain its basic design and interior layout, but is expected to come with several changes and added features. It is likely to launch by festive season next year. Apart from a new fresh visual appeal, it is expected to offer some new features and safety tech.
The 2019 Renault Kwid facelift will continue to get powered by its 800 cc and 1.0L petrol engine options. Transmission options will include a manual and automatic gearboxes as us usual.
Renault also has plans to launch the all-electric version of the Kwid. Named as the Renault K-ZE, the all-electric mini hatch was showcased at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. It will first launch in the Chinese market, followed by other global markets. The K-ZE might take a while to come to India, but we sure hope to get it.
