End Of The Line For BMW 6 Series GT

While the coupe grand tourer body style entices with its sleek stance, the same hasn’t translated in sales numbers. As the report tells us, the 6 Series GT has found it hard to even cross 3 digit sales figures in global markets while its sedan counterpart has been charting 4 digit sales month-on-month. The 6 Series GT also failed to find customers in the US and was discontinued after the mid-life update. As a result, BMW have decided to pull the plug on the 6 Series GT nameplate and its production has stopped.

As per an official statement by a BMW spokesperson, the BMW 6 Series GT is now internally replaced by the BMW 8 Series range — which includes 2-door coupe and 4-door gran coupe body styles. In the Indian scheme of things, BMW currently lists the 6 Series GT on their website but considering its production has ended, it is likely to get delisted soon. The carmaker, however, does offer the 8 Series in the M8 Coupe guise in India. It is worth mentioning that the 8 Series Gran Coupe also went on sale for a brief period in the Indian market, but was later discontinued.
