BMW India have launched 2 new variants of the 7 Series luxury limousine in India. The first of these new variants – the 740d M Sport – is assembled in India and gets a price tag of Rs. 1.81 crore. The second variant, the i7 M70 xDrive, is imported via the completely built up unit (CBU) route and costs Rs. 2.50 crore (ex-showroom). The new BMW 7 Series 740d M Sport is powered by a 3.0L, 6-cylinder turbo diesel engine that puts out 286PS of power and 650Nm of torque. The 740d M Sport’s engine is paired to a 48V mild-hybrid system that puts out 18PS of power and 200Nm of additional torque. The 740d M Sport sends power to its rear wheel via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The newly-launched i7 M70 xDrive is now BMW’s most powerful electrical vehicle sold in the country. Priced at Rs. 2.50 crore, the i7 M70 xDrive competes with the Mercedes-AMG EQS sedan. Like the standard i7, the i7 M70 xDrive is powered by electric motors in the front and rear axle. However, the rear motor puts out more power in the new variant. The combined output is rated at 650PS of power and 1015Nm of torque. With the M Launch Control and M Sport Boost engaged, the torque output goes up to 1100Nm for short bursts
BMW’s latest electric luxury sedan is powered by a 101.7kWh battery pack that gives it a WLTP-certified range of 560km on a single charge. Zero to 100kkmph is accomplished in just 3.5 seconds while the top speed is limited to 250kmph.
