BMW have launched a new M Sport variant of the X5 diesel. It costs Rs. 97.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and gets 4-wheel drive just like the lower SportX Plus variant. It retains the same 6-cylinder twin turbo diesel engine in the same spec. This new model makes 265PS of power at 4000rpm and 620Nm of torque between 1500 and 2500rpm. It also gets the same 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
While, mechanically, it is similar to the other diesel variant, it gets some extra features to showcase its sporty performance and luxury. The new M Sport variant gets the following additional features:
- Launch control
- Adaptive air suspension
- Paddle shifters
- Key fob with full-colour LCD display and a touchscreen
- LED lights with laser focusing called the BMW Laserlight
- Head-up display
- 360-degree camera
- Harman kardon sound system with 16 speakers
- 20-inch alloy wheels instead of 19-inch
- 275-section front tyres (1 size wider than lower variant)
- 305-section rear tyres (4 sizes wider than lower variant)

For style, the BMW X5 M Sport variant differentiates itself with features like:
- Exclusive black and night-blue shade for exterior colours
- High-gloss shadow line
- M badges on the outside and inside
- M leather steering wheel
- Rear diffuser
- M-style door sill finishers
- Illuminated M-style pedals
- Different roof liner
- Large 20-inch wheels instead of 19 inch
