Few days ago, Mahindra & Mahindra had revealed the upcoming XUV300 for the Indian market. Based on the Ssangyong Tivoli, the baby XUV500 will debut in the Indian market by February 2019. However, the manufacturer has commenced the bookings for the sub- compact SUV at a fully refundable token amount of Rs 50,000 at some dealerships in the country. The company is all set to offer few segment- first features on the new XUV 300 such as the dual-zone climate control system, disc brakes on all four wheels, the longest wheelbase in the segment and highest torque output.
The new Mahindra XUV300 is likely to draw power from a 1.5- litre diesel engine along with a 1.2- litre petrol engine where both the engines will come mated to a six-speed transmission for now and the AMT will follow later. The diesel motor produces 121 bhp and 300 Nm, while the petrol mill is good enough for 120 bhp.
In terms of looks and features, the upcoming XUV300 follows the same Cheetah design language with a hint of Tivoli’s European style. The 2019 XUV300 looks like the smaller version of the XUV500 by the manufacturer. It gets a chrome finished grille at the front with projector headlamps and LED DRLs at the front and blacked out A, B, and C- Pillars giving a floating effect to the roof at the sides. At the rear, the SUV will offer the split tail lamp with a black bumper and black cladding on the wheel arches matching to the rear bumper. It also comes with 17- inch machine- finished wheels.
The interior of the 2019 Mahindra XUV300 will be offered with a centre console with integrated touchscreen infotainment system, while the dual- tone cabin gets high- gloss black and aluminium silver elements all around. Mahindra claims that the upright stance of the XUV300 gives a commanding seating position to the XUV300. The layout is quite similar to the SsangYong Tivoli available in the international markets. The features list includes a sunroof and cruise control, leather seats, dual- tone dashboard, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is a second screen that shows the AC temperature. The safety features like dual airbags, rear disc brakes, rear parking sensors, Isofix child seat mounts and ABS with EBD will be offered as standard.
Some dealers in Pune and Gujarat are accepting bookings unofficially for the car and the amount at which the car is been booked is for Rs 11,000 and in Mumbai, the booking amount is Rs 10,000. For other states, the SUV can be booked by just paying just Rs 11,000. In terms of pricing, the Mahindra XUV300 is expected to be launched in the price range of Rs 7 lakh- Rs 11 lakh, ex- showroom. It will enter production at Mahindra plant in Nashik soon. When launched, the new Mahindra XUV300 will take against the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon along with the upcoming Hyundai QXi SUV in the segment.
