Citroen C3 Expected Features, Engine Options, Rivals And Prices | V3Cars

Citroen India are gearing up to launch the made-for-India C3 in the coming weeks. While the French carmaker hasn’t revealed any launch timeline, we expect the C3 to go on sale in June 2022. Multiple test cars without any camouflage have been spied on public roads, which hints at an imminent launch. In this article, we share the expected features, engine options and price details of the upcoming Citroen C3.

Citroen C3

Citroen unveiled the India-bound C3 in September last year. It is worth mentioning that the India-bound C3 doesn’t have anything in common with the C3 hatchback that’s on sale in European markets. The India-bound C3 sits on a new localised platform and borrows design cues from bigger Citroen SUVs.

Citroen C3 Design

In terms of styling, the Citroen C3 carves a space for itself by being a cross between a hatchback and an SUV. Hence, Citroen like to call the C3 a ‘hatchback with a twist’. At the front, the C3 gets a split headlight setup with LED DRLs that merges with the grille. The lower part of the bumper gets a faux skid plate and round fog lights. At the side, the C3 gets fender-mounted turn indicators and styled steel wheels, which are an indicator of its low cost and functional design. At the rear, the C3 gets faux skid plates and LED taillights.

Citroen C3 Expected Features

The Citroen C3 gets all the practical features one would expect from a car of its class. However, the C3 lacks many feel-good features that other cars in its segment now offer. Speaking of the available features, the C3 gets a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, mobile phone holder, manual air conditioning, internally-adjustable ORVMs, steering mounted controls and a digital instrument cluster. However, it misses out on centralised control for the power windows, electric adjustment for ORVMs, alloy wheels and rear wiper.

Citroen C3 Engine Options

Citroen are yet to reveal any details about the powertrain of the C3. We expect the Citroen C3 to be offered with a 1.2L normal petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Citroen could also offer an automatic transmission to buyers looking for the convenience of 2 pedal driving. However, we can confirm that the C3 won’t be offered with a diesel engine. The C3 will be based on Citroen’s Common Modular Platform (CMP) and will benefit from a high degree of localisation.

Citroen C3 Expected Prices And Rivals

Citroen C3, thanks to its quirky styling, sits between an A-segment hatchback (Kwid) and a small SUV (Punch). We expect the Citroen C3 to go up against the Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Tata Punch and Maruti Suzuki Ignis. We expect Citroen to price the C3 between Rs. 5 lakh and Rs. 8 lakh ex-showroom.
