by V3Cars Team on Sunday, Dec 25 2016

Maruti Suzuki is all set to expand its premium model lineup that it currently offers exclusively through its premium Nexa dealership outlets across India. This will be done with the launch of the Ignis compact crossover model, which will be the new entry-level model to be offered from the Nexa showrooms and will be placed just under the Baleno premium hatchback. Maruti Suzuki currently offers the S-Cross crossover and the Baleno hatchback in its Nexa range, and the much awaited Ignis will be the third model in this range. The Maruti Suzuki Ignis is aiming the new-age car buyers of India and it will be launched on 13th of January 2017.

Although the Maruti Suzuki Ignis is going to be an affordably priced premium subcompact crossover model, but will be fully loaded with great attractive features, high quality materials, and great fit and finish. It will be even more feature-rich than the Baleno, which sits a notch above it. Another interesting fact about the Ignis is that the vehicle has minimal parts sharing with the other Maruti Suzuki cars, and thus will offer a very fresh cabin. However, the India-spec Ignis will be certainly a bit different than its global counterpart when features are concerned, as the Indian counterpart of the vehicle will lose some features as compared to its global version.

Take a look at how the soon to launch Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be different than its global version.

    1. The 1.2 liter DualJet engine

The India-spec Maruti Suzuki will be getting powered by the very familiar 1.2-liter K-series petrol engine, while the vehicle’s global counterpart will get equipped with a more powerful version of the same engine empowered with DualJet technology. The 1.2 liter DualJet mill made its debut under the hood of the Swift and also powers in the international version of the Baleno. This is essentially the same engine, but makes use of the twin fuel injection system for enhanced fuel efficiency while also offering more power as well as torque.

    2. Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) technology

The international Ignis gets endowed with the Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) is a mild-hybrid technology. This technology makes use of an integrated starter generator that acts both as a generator as well as a starter motor; and an engine start-stop system. This affordable yet effective technology helps offering better fuel economy while also aiding the engine during start and acceleration.

    3. AllGrip All-Wheel-Drive

In the international market, the Suzuki Ignis also comes equipped with Suzuki's AllGrip All Four Wheel Drive system. This is a high quality fully automatic as well as permanent all wheel drive system that transfers the additional torque to the vehicle’s rear wheels when the driving condition requires it. The AllGrip empowered Suzuki Ignis crossover gets loaded further with features like hill descent and grip control and other high-tech safety features. These great features are also not expected to make way into the India-spec Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
