Next-gen Ertiga has been creating a buzz in the market for quite some time. Finally, the upcoming MPV is going to make its world debut on April 19 this month at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show. The all-new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has already been spied testing several times in India and recently in Indonesia as well. Also according to the Indonesian media, the authorized dealerships in the country have also started accepting pre-bookings for the MPV ahead of its debut for 5 million Indonesian Rupiah (around Rs 23,000).

The 2018 Ertiga is expected to be based on the all-new Heartect platform by Maruti Suzuki that also underpins the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Swift models. However, with Ertiga it is likely to get an extended wheelbase and will also be substantially longer than the outgoing model and will also see a major overhaul in design, space, and practicality. The spied images of the MPV have already revealed few details about the design of upcoming Ertiga. A large single-frame grille, projector lamps with LED DRLs, LED taillights along with a sporty windscreen, bigger than before door or comfortable entry and exit of the passengers with seating arrangement for seven passengers are the highlights to be seen on the 2018 Ertiga.

At the inside, the new Ertiga is also expected to get the same touchscreen infotainment system that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay that also comes on the new generation Dzire. Other than this, there is no information regarding the other features to be seen inside the 2018 Ertiga. For that, we’ll have to wait till the automaker reveals the MPV.

Under the hood, the all-new Ertiga will sport the same 1.4-litre K-Series petrol which makes 91 BHP and 130 Nm of torque and the 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine which produces 89 BHP and 200 Nm as the outgoing model in the Indian market. Also, in addition to a 5-speed manual gearbox, we can expect the next-generation of this MPV to also come with an AMT gearbox. The Indo-Japanese automaker could continue to offer the diesel variants with Suzuki’s SHVS mild-hybrid technology. However, the new Ertiga will be offered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine in the Indonesian market and Maruti might also introduce the rumored 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine on the new Ertiga in the near future. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the powertrain options of the 2018 Ertiga by Maruti Suzuki.

The reason behind Maruti Suzuki unveiling the upcoming Ertiga in Indonesia might be that Indonesia is a MPV-dominated market and the Ertiga is a popular offering in its segment and the current-gen Suzuki Ertiga is available in two different versions in the Indonesian market. Maruti Ertiga was launched in India for the first time in the year 2012 and it received a mid-life facelift in 2015. When launched in India, the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will take against the upcoming Mahindra U321 MPV that will be launched in the coming months. More details regarding the next-gen Ertiga including the pricing and official launch will be available when it will make its world debut at the upcoming motor show.
