Confirmed: Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid To Launch In India In September 2018
The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid is one of the most awaited launches in the country this year and Porsche has confirmed that the SUV will be launched in India in September 2018. The hybrid variant of the third generation Cayenne made its debut earlier this month and since then the launch speculations have been doing rounds everywhere. However, the official date of launch is still under the cover but as we know the month of launch, the advanced booking for the upcoming Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid is expected to commence soon in the future.
Mechanically, the Cayenne E-Hybrid will come powered by a 3.0-litre, V6 petrol engine that produces 335 BHP of maximum power and a peak torque of 450 Nm. Additionally, the SUV also gets a 14.1 kWh battery and an electric motor with an output of 134 BHP and 400 Nm, which results in a combined output of 456 BHP and 700 Nm as the E-Hybrid. The engine will come mated to the 8- speed automatic transmission and the claimed fuel efficiency returned by the upcoming Cayenne E-Hybrid is between 29-31 kmpl.
Based on VW's MLB platform the new Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid measures 4,918 mm in length, 1,983 mm in width and 1,696 mm in height, with the wheelbase of 2,895 mm. The boot space has been measured to be at 645 litres that can be expanded to 1,610 litres by folding the rear seats, while fuel tank capacity is 75 litres. The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid also receives a completely new chassis.
In terms of design, styling and features, the 2018 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid is quite similar to the third-generation non-hybrid models. The model features a redesigned front fascia with re-profiled LED headlamps and a new front bumper with a 3-part grille and air dam along with a coupe-like side profile and a roofline that terminates into a roof spoiler while the rear features quad exhaust tips and the new LED light bar that stretches across the tail gate. However, there is still something to differentiate the hybrid from the non-hybrid variants- the green e-hybrid badges and matching green brake calipers.
The interior of the SUV will offer a redesigned, dual-tone dashboard with a touchscreen in the centre and a 3-spoke, multi-functional steering wheel with a 3-pod instrument cluster as the highlighting features. Apart from these, the Cayenne also features the Porsche Active Suspension System (PASM), along with the optional electric Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) roll stabilization system and the 22-inch light metal wheels as well as Porsche Traction Management (PTM) which includes active all-wheel drive, automatic brake differential (ABD) and anti-slip regulation (ASR) and Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and ABS.
Talking about the rivals, the SUV won’t have any direct rivals in the country when launched. Currently, the Volvo XC90 T8 placed one segment lower than the Cayenne E-Hybrid is the only other hybrid luxury vehicle on sale in India. Let’s see if other rival automakers plan to introduce other E-Hybrid vehicles in the country. Stay tuned to V3cars.com for further updates on the launch of the upcoming Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid.
