by Monalisa Saha on Monday, Sep 30 2019

Datsun India has officially commenced bookings for the CVT models of its Go and Go+ car models. The Datsun Go mini hatchback and the Go+ mini MPV’s new CVT variants can be booked for an advance amount of Rs 11,000 at any authorized Nissan or Datsun dealership outlet across India. And this token amount is even refundable.

Both, the Datsun Go and Go+ CVT models are equipped with the same 1.2 litre, 3-cylinder petrol mill that powers the cars’ manual models as well. However, the CVT gearbox equipped models will be offering a higher power output of 77 hp as compared against the 68 hp of the manual transmission equipped variants. Nevertheless, both the manual and automatic variants offer the same top torque figure of 104 Nm.

Datsun is all braced up to launch the CVT gearbox option in the top two trim levels of the Go and Datsun Go Plus namely - T and T (O). When features are concerned, both the automatic variants will be offering a 7.0-inch touchscreen integrated infotainment system along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, rear washer and wiper and manual air conditioner. The top of the range T (O) model trim will be adding more bells and whistles to these mini cars by offering LED Daytime Running Lights and 14 inch diamond cut alloy wheels. The models will also offer impressive safety features, including the first in segment feature Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), ABS with EBD, brake assist, dual airbags, seatbelt reminder and rear parking sensors.

The Datsun Go with its automatic transmission option will be better equipped to fight with its market rivals in India, which include the Tata Tiago, Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Hyundai Santro, all of which offers automatic transmission options. However, the Datsun Go begs to differ, as while its rivals come with the cost-effective AMT gearboxes, it is getting equipped with the conventional and more premium CVT gearbox that is definitely smoother. This makes the Datsun Go the first model in its own class to get CVT option.
