Tata Motors has commenced the deliveries for the Tiago and Tigor JTP models in the country. The first Tata Tiago JTP of the country has been delivered to Zishan Khan in Mumbai recently. The JTP models from Tata Motors have been developed under Tata Motors' joint venture with Coimbatore- based Jayem Automotives, titled Jayem Tata Special Vehicles (JTSV), where 'JTP' stands for Jayem Tata Performance. Both the JTP models were first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo earlier in February this year.
Talking about the Tiago JTP model, Tata Motors has launched the Tiago JTP at Rs 6.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), priced Rs 1.18 lakh over the XZ petrol variant of the standard Tiago model in the country. Under the hood, the Tiago JTP comes powered by only a 1.2- litre turbocharged petrol motor that makes 111 bhp and 150 Nm mated to a 5- speed manual gearbox. The same engine powers the Nexon SUV where it generates 108 bhp of maximum power and 170 Nm of maximum torque. In terms of features, the Tata Tiago JTP offers the 5- inch touchscreen infotainment system, borrowed from the previous gen Tigor as well as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front fog lamps, rear washer and wiper, day/night IRVM, central locking and manual AC. The car goes up against the likes of the Maruti Baleno RS, Volkswagen Polo GT, Ford Figo S and the Abarth Punto in the segment.
On the other hand, the Tata Tigor JTP was launched at Rs 7.49 lakh (ex- showroom, Delhi), at a premium of Rs 1 lakh over the top- spec petrol XZ+ variant. Like the standard version, the Tigor JTP features the 5- inch touchscreen infotainment system which is borrowed from the last gen Tigor. Other features on offer include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front fog lamps, rear washer and wiper, day / night IRVM and central locking. Mechanically, like the Tiago JTP, the Tigor JTP is also available with only the 1.2- litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 111 bhp and 150 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5- speed manual gearbox only. Though the vehicle doesn’t have any direct rivals, it will take on the likes of the Ford Figo Aspire AT.
Other than Tiago and Tigor JTP models, Tata Motors is also planning to bring the JTP models for other vehicles in the future as well. The Nexon JTP is one model that is expected to debut in the future. Compared to the regular models, the JTP models showcase better performance and an engaging driving experience. The styling also gets enhanced with sportier bumpers, bigger wheels, red accents and a functional bonnet scoop making the vehicle better in every aspect. Both the Tiago and Tigor models in the country have been one of the most loved in their respective segments in the Indian market since their launch. Therefore, Tata Motors is quite determined to gain benefit by offering some features and enhancement over the regular models. Stay tuned to V3cars.com for further updates from Tata Motors.
