American auto major Ford has recently increased the price range of its most popular car model in India – the EcoSport. The Ford EcoSport subcompact SUV’s pricing has been hiked by the company by up to Rs. 20,500. Ford India has updated the new prices of the EcoSport on the company's official website. As per the new price range, the Ford EcoSport’s base petrol trim model comes at Rs. 7.82 lakhs, while the top of the range diesel model trim’s price goes up to Rs. 11.04 lakhs (prices ex-showroom, Delhi). In the entire range of the Ford EcoSport, only the diesel Titanium manual variant’s price has remained unchanged at Rs. 9.99 lakhs, while all the other variants have received a price hike which ranges from Rs. 5,300 to Rs. 20,500. The interesting bit is that in order to justify the price hike, Ford India has introduced an array of new added features on the EcoSport mini SUV.
When features are concerned, the Ford EcoSport’s Trend, Trend+ and Titanium variants come packed with a 9 inch touchscreen display integrated infotainment system and rearview parking camera. Surprisingly, the range topping Titanium+ trim still continues to offer the tad smaller 8 inch touchscreen system along with Ford's SYNC3, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The American auto major has also updated the safety features of the EcoSport. The sub-4 meter compact SUV now offers dual front airbags, ABS and EBD, parking sensors, passenger seat belt reminder and speed sensing door lock as standard equipments across all the variants. The range topping Titanium+ trim will be offering ambient lighting and Ford My Key.
In terms of looks, the new updated Ford EcoSport SUV remains the same with no added exterior styling changes. The top of the range Titanium+ model continues to offer premium features including automatic LED headlights, LED DRLs, chrome accented radiator grille, 17 inch alloy wheels, roof rails, LED tail lights, spoilers and more.
The mechanical specs also remain the same. The EcoSport comes equipped with a 1.5L diesel motor that is capable of delivering 99 bhp of max power and 205 Nm of top torque, while the new 1.5L petrol mill from Ford’s new Dragon series of petrol engines, is good to generate 123 bhp and 150 Nm. Both the engines come mated to a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox as standard, while the petrol mill also comes paired to a 6 speed automatic transmission as an option.
