At a time when car safety is being considered increasingly and stricter safety rules are being planned for the Indian cars, Honda Cars India is focusing on enhancing the safety quotient of its entire car lineup. The Japanese car major is just following footsteps of the other car majors operating in India who have already started boosting the safety features in their offerings. Honda India has introduced dual SRS airbags as a standard safety feature across all the variants of its Jazz premium hatchback. This means that the Honda Jazz hatchback will be offering the crucial safety feature of dual front airbags in both its diesel and petrol versions, beginning right from the base E variant to all the way up the top of the range VX model trim. This information has been revealed in the company’s official website.

As additional features always mean an additional premium, the introduction of the dual airbags safety feature as standard across the lineup of the Honda Jazz premium hatchback has also reportedly hiked the car’s price range. As per the reports, the Honda Jazz has now become dearer by Rs. 12,000 across the various model trims of the hatchback model. Previously, the dual airbags were offered starting from the Jazz’s mid-level SV model trim, excluding the E and S models.

According to the reports all the units of the Honda Jazz premium hatchback model that will be manufactured from November onwards, will be coming endowed with the safety feature of front SRS dual airbags as a standard features. The Jazz also comes with other safety features such as impact mitigating headrest, engine immobilizer system, ABS with EBD (optional) and pedestrian injury minimizing system in case of a collision.

Apart from the inclusion of the dual SRS airbags for the driver and the front co-passenger as a standard feature, no other changes have been to the Honda Jazz lineup in terms of styling, features and under the hood mechanical bits. The latest generation Honda Jazz that launched in July last year, comes in both petrol and diesel versions. Under the hood, the premium hatchback model comes equipped with a 1.2 liter i-VTEC petrol motor which has the capacity to churn out a max power output of 90 PS and a top torque of 110 Nm. On the other hand, the diesel avatar of the Jazz hatchback comes packed with a 1.5 liter i-DTEC motor which is good to generate a peak power output of 100 PS and max torque of 200 Nm. The generated power gets transmitted to the front wheels of the car with the help of an efficient 5 speed manual transmission as standard on both the petrol and diesel versions, while there’s also a CVT gearbox option on the petrol version.

As a result of the hike in the price range of the Honda Jazz owing to the standard dual airbags feature, the revised price range of the car now starts at Rs. 5.81 lakh for the base petrol model, while the base diesel trim is tagged at Rs. 7.12 lakh (prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
