Czech auto maker Skoda is gaining a lot of attention and praises for its two new capable products, the Kodiaq and the Karoq SUV models. The new Skoda Karoq is a very capable new SUV model just like its bigger sibling the 7-seater Kodiaq. And just like the Kodiaq, the Karoq has also received the top 5 Star safety ratings from the Euro NCAP.
The European New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) has given a very impressive 93 percent to the Karoq when adult passenger occupation safety is concerned. The NCAP crash tests have said that the Czech SUV provides admirable protection to the cervical spine in the rear-end collisions. The Skoda Karoq has been awarded 79 percent when child occupant safety is concerned. In terms of pedestrian safety, the crash tests have revealed that the Karoq has achieved 73 percent. Moreover, the safety assist system on the new Karoq SUV has been awarded 58 percent. The Skoda Karoq SUV has also achieved full scores for the safety system provided to offer protection to the legs of the pedestrians on the event of a collision.
While speaking on the achievement of the highest achievable 5 star NCAP safety ratings of the Karoq, the Skoda Board Member for Technical Development, Christian Strube said that the company is delighted that the new Skoda Karoq has also cleared the Euro NCAP crash tests with great scores. The company is tirelessly working towards optimizing the active and passive safety of its vehicles and developing occupant and pedestrian protection, and also assistance systems. Innumerable driver assistance systems have been endowed on the new Karoq SUV, which are usually found only in models in the higher vehicle classes.
The Czech car maker also says that the high level of passive safety quotient of the Skoda SUV is owing to the high torsional rigidity of the vehicle. Moreover, the company has also endowed large deformation zones and has incorporated widespread usage of high-strength as well as ultra-high strength steel to construct the Karoq SUV. The high quality construction of the SUV has ensured that it offers superb safety and protection to its occupants. The car maker also offers as many as 7 airbags as standard feature. The airbags package includes ones for the driver, front passenger, side, head as well as for the knees. The new 5-seater SUV also comes with highly supportive Whiplash Optimised Headrests that offers protection for the occupants from the whiplash on the event of a rear-end collision. The SUV also comes with ISOFIX child seat anchorage as a standard feature. Moreover, there is also pro-active occupant protection system that closes the open windows as well as tightens the seatbelts on the event of a collision.
The other noteworthy safety equipments on the Karoq include adaptive distance assistance, driver fatigue detection, traffic jam assistant, a set of cameras, sensor and radar based driver assistance systems.
The Skoda Karoq is expected to launch in India sometime next year. It remains to be seen, if the Karoq will retain all its premium features in the Indian market.
