Jaguar has launched the F-Type powered by a new 4-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine in the Indian car market. The Jaguar F-Type lineup in India thus, now starts from the entry-level 4-cylinder model to the company’s supercar - F-TYPE SVR. The newly launched Jaguar F-Type sports car now comes empowered with the 2.0 litre turbocharged Ingenium petrol mill that has the capability to churn out a max power output of 221 kW.
The new Jaguar F-Type Coupe variant with the new 4-cylinder Ingenium petrol mill has launched in the car market of India with a starting price tag at Rs. 90.93 lakhs, while the 2.0 litre F-Type Convertible’s price starts at Rs. 1.01 crore (prices ex-showroom, across India).
According to Jaguar Land Rover India, the petrol engine from the company’s new Ingenium engine family has enabled for a considerable vehicle weight slash by 52 kgs. Most of this weight reduction has happened over the vehicle’s front axle that helps in enhances the agility and handling of the car. The Jaguar F-Type’s body chassis has also been tuned as per the requirements of the new engine in order to offer enhanced steering response, better body control and more comfortable ride.
While speaking on the launch of the Jaguar F-Type with the new 2 litre Ingenium petrol engine, the President and Managing Director at Jaguar Land Rover India, Mr. Rohit Suri said that the company is highly excited about introducing the 2.0 litre petrol engine on the F-TYPE. This launch will be making the popular sportscar brand more accessible to all the Jaguar aficionados in India and also broaden the customer base across the country. He added by saying that the car enthusiasts of India will certainly be thrilled by the appeal of the pure breed Jaguar F-TYPE with its very special driving character.
The coupe and convertible models of the 2 litre 4-cylinder F-Type are also offered for sale in the sportier R-Dynamic variants. The R-Dynamic variant boasts of offering larger 19 inch wheels as part of its standard package. It also offers a switchable active exhaust for a sweeter exhaust note. The R-Dynamic variants come for around Rs. 4 lakh additional premium over the standard variants.
On the other hand, the Jaguar F-Type R and the top of the range SVR variants come packed with larger 5.0 litre supercharged V8 mill that offer up to 575 PS of power and 700 Nm of top torque. These models cost around whopping Rs. 1 crore more than that of the new 2.0 liter F-Type.
The iconic British luxury car brand, Jaguar Land Rover that is currently owned by the Indian auto major Tata Motors, and is resolute to improve is position in the Indian market. India is a rapidly growing car market and its luxury car market is growing by leaps and bounds, but Jaguar Land Rover is still behind the dominance of the Germa luxury automakers in India. JLR is thus going very aggressive about new model launches in India.
