British luxury auto major - Jaguar Land Rover has started accepting bookings for the new variants of the Range Rover – the performance-centric Sport SVR and the luxurious flagship model SV Autobiography in India. The “SV” in both the Range Rover variants mean that they have been specially developed by Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) wing and boast of an array of features to stat apart from the standard models.
The Range Rover Sport SVR has a starting price of Rs. 1.97 crore, while the Range Rover SV Autobiography has a starting tag of Rs. 3.12 crore that goes up to Rs. 3.88 crore.
The Range Rover SVAutobiography flagship model was recently updated for the global markets. It boasts of special features such as two standalone recliner rear seats, front seats with ultra-luxurious 24-way 'Hot-Stone' massage feature, a power deployable centre console flaunting premium veneer trims, integrated 10 inch touchscreen rear entertainment screens along with 4G WiFi connectivity, electronically deployable rear tables and electronically deployable rear tables, among other cool features. The variant also offers a wine cooler in the space between the two luxurious backseats and boasts of the new generation dual touchscreen display set up from Velar. Other noteworthy features include laser LED headlamps, a Meridian sound system and electrically closing rear doors.
The India-spec car Range Rover SVAutobiography comes powered by a potent 4.4 L SDV8 diesel motor that is capable of offering 340 PS of power and 740 Nm of torque in both SWB and LWB (short and long wheelbase) versions. The massively powerful, supercharged 5.0 litre petrol V8 mill generates 565 PS along with 700 Nm, but it is available only in the SWB model. The car comes with power-deployable centre console along with premium veneer trims. The car offers an extensive list of luxury features along with a multitude of seating options to add to the ultimate luxury quotient. It also includes the above mentioned international features including a concealed bar refrigerator, power closing rear doors, a premium Meridian Signature audio system and Pixel Laser LED headlights along with patent LED DRLs.
On the other hand, the new refreshed Range Rover Sport SVR has come to India powered by the supercharged 5.0 litre petrol V8, which now offers increased 590 PS of power and 700 Nm of torque on this model. Jaguar Land Rover’ SVO has made a number of changes on the variant which includes new front air inlets, exposed carbon fibre bonnet option, a stiffer suspension setup and reduction in weight and enhancement of performance and maneuverability with increased usage of lightweight materials. As a result of all these improvements combined is the top speed of 280 kmph along with the capability of doing the 0 to 100 kmph sprint in just 4.5 seconds. The engineers at JRL SVO have paid special attention on the car’s pitch controlling during heavy acceleration as well as braking. They have tweaked the damping hardware as well which have resulted in enhanced turn-in, mid-corner grip as well as body control.
The Indian car major Tata Motors owned British luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover is currently following a product offensive strategy in India, as the Indian luxury auto market is dominated by the German trio – Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW. JRL plans to launch 10 models in India in 2018.
