June 2023 Cars Sales Analysis - SUV YoY, MoM Change, 6-Month Trend | V3Cars
In this June 2023 car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the YoY and MoM change in sales figures of all SUVs in India. We’ll also share our observations based on the sales data and possible reasons behind a massive increase or drop in sales, where applicable. Lastly, the table with monthly sales of all SUVs for the last 6 months will give you an idea about their 6-month sales trend.
SUV Segment June 2023 Car Sales - YoY Change
- There are currently 38 SUVs on sale in the Indian car market, out of which, 13 belong to the B2-segment. The segment-wise distribution of the SUV in India is as follows:
- A-segment – 0
- B1-segment – 1
- B2-segment – 13
- C1-segment – 9
- C2-segment – 5
- D1-segment – 7
- D2-segment – 3
- Single SUV from the B1-segment sells more units than the C2 and D2-segment combined.
- Among the SUVs, the Hyundai Creta and Tata Nexon were the top 2 sellers in June, with 14,447 and 13,827 units sold, respectively.
- Amongst the mass-market cars in the category, Brezza was the top gainer with 140% YoY gains in June comparison analysis. Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic pair was the second best gainer in YoY comparison in June with 109.34% gains.
- 6 SUVs made it into the 5-figure club in June - Creta, Nexon, Brezza, Punch, Grand Vitara and Venue.
- The top loser was Jeep Compass with 76.35% YoY drop in sales respectively.
- Honda WR-V, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Nissan Kicks, Toyota Urban Cruiser and Mahindra Alturas G4 were discontinued over the past year.

SUV Segment June 2023 Car Sales - MoM Change
- MG Astor was the top gaining mass market SUV with just over 50% MoM rise in June comparison analysis.
- Citroen C3 was the second top MoM gainer in June 2023 MoM analysis, with an improvement of 44.50% over its May sales figures.
- Amongst the mass-market losers, MG ZS EV was the top loser with 56% MoM decline.
