  • The Kia Carens was launched in February 2022 with an introductory starting price of Rs. 9.0 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • The Kia MUV was launched in 5 variants – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus – initially.
  • The Kia Carens was launched to compete against the Maruti Arena Ertiga, Maruti Nexa XL6 and Mahindra Marazzo.
  • Kia Carens received a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine in March 2023.
  • In April 2023, Kia launched the Carens Luxury Optional variant equipped with a sunroof.
  • Kia Carens  joined the list of cars available to military and para military forces via CSD in May 2023.
  • In June 2023, 30,000 units of the Kia Carens were recalled for a possible glitch in the instrument cluster.
  • Kia Carens X Line variant introduced in early October 2023.

Kia Carens Powertrain Options

The Kia Carens is offered with 3 engine options. The 1.5L normal petrol engine puts out 115PS of power and 144Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual. The 1.5L turbo petrol engine produces 160PS of power and 253Nm of torque. This engine is available with 2 transmission options - a 6-speed auto clutch manual transmission (ACMT) and a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission (DCT). The 1.5L turbo diesel engine of the Carens puts out 116PS of power and 250Nm of torque and sends power to the front wheels via a 6-speed ACMT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission (TC).
