Kia EV9 Could Be The Next EV Launch

Since the made-in-India electric Kia model will hit our shores around 2025, we expect Kia to launch the recently-launched EV9 electric SUV in 2024. Kia India showcased the EV9 concept at the 2023 Auto Expo alongside the new Carnival KA4. The EV9 electric SUV recently went on sale in global markets as an all-electric substitute to the Kia Telluride.

The Kia EV9 comes with a 99.8kWh battery pack, which channels power to 2 electric motors. The dual motor long range model offers 385PS of power and 600Nm of torque. With boost mode, it can do the 0-100kmph sprint in a claimed 5.3 seconds. When launched, the EV9 will become the flagship Kia in India and go up against other premium electric SUVs like the BMW iX and Audi Q8 E-Tron.

Kia will launch the new model as an EV first and its ICE derivative will follow later. It’s similar to the Tata Curvv, which will be launched as an EV first followed by the ICE model. With these new launches in place, Kia aim to achieve a 10% market share in India by the year 2028.
