Pro tip: The Seltos will be a rival to the Hyundai Creta. Expect it to be priced in the Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh range.
Kia will start accepting bookings for the Seltos compact SUV from 16 July onwards. The carmaker has set the minimum booking amount at Rs 25,000. Prices of the Seltos will be announced on 22 August 2019. Interested buyers will be able to book the Seltos online as well as offline, at any of the 206 Kia dealerships.
The Kia Seltos has been previewed in India ahead of its launch. It will be a Creta-sized compact SUV and will be powered by 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines adhering to BS6 emission norms. There will be a third engine as well, a 1.4-litre turbocharged BS6 petrol engine that will develop over 140PS power, making Seltos the most powerful compact SUV when it goes on sale in India.
There will be an automatic transmission option available with all the three engines of the Seltos. The 1.5-litre petrol engine will be paired with a CVT, the diesel engine with a torque converter and the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a dual-clutch automatic transmission. Apart from the automatic transmission options, there will be a 6-speed manual transmission on offer as well.
The Seltos will come equipped with 3 driving modes -- Normal, Sports and Eco, which will not only alter the engine’s response, but also the steering wheel weight. Expect the Seltos’ steering to feel the heaviest and the most precise in the Sport mode. Apart from drive modes, there will also be 3 traction modes -- Mud, Snow/Wet and Sand. These will adjust the grip of the car on the surface on which it is being driven.
Kia is yet to officially reveal the Seltos’ variant details and variant-wise features list, but it has now confirmed that there will be two different versions of the Seltos on offer -- GT Line and Tech Line. The carmaker says that the GT Line will cater to performance enthusiasts while the Tech Line will be aimed at families.
