The Kia Sonet is set for a world premiere on 7 August 2020 and ahead of the showcase, the carmaker has revealed some of the features that the upcoming sub-4m SUV will get.
Here’s a list of the features that will certainly be on offer on the top-spec Sonet.
KIA SONET | CONFIRMED FEATURES
10.25-inch Touchscreen Infotainment System
UVO Connected-car Tech
Digital Instrument Cluster
Side & Curtain Airbags
Sound Mood Lights
Metallic Surround around AC Vents
While the Sonet is based on the Venue -- its Hyundai counterpart -- it gets its own unique features that are not on offer on even the top-spec Venue, like LED headlamps, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster and drive modes. The sketches of the Sonet also reveal that it would feature automatic AC, rear defogger, front armrest and a branded audio system with front tweeters.
Apart from revealing the design inspiration, the exterior design sketches of the Sonet also suggest that features like projector fog lamps and roof rails could also be on offer. We also expect the production model to get the option of dual-tone paint scheme as well, showcased in the design sketches.
The front sketch of the Sonet reveals a GT badge on the grille, confirming that Kia will have multiple trim lines on the Sonet too, like on the Seltos. The GT Line, we’re assuming, will get an all-black interior as shown in the sketches, while the other trim (possibly HT Line) might get a black-beige theme. The interior sketches of the Sonet reveal the Seltos-like infotainment system layout of the Sonet.
Kia has reserved the GT Line trim for the turbocharged engines on the Seltos, and we expect the carmaker to follow suit on the Sonet as well; so the turbo-petrol engine and the turbo-diesel engine are likely to get the GT Line trim. The third engine on offer would be the 1.2-litre normal petrol engine that is also on offer on the Venue. Expect Kia to borrow transmission options from the Venue, so there could be a manual, an ACMT (iMT) and a dual-clutch automatic transmission on offer on the Sonet. We expect the Sonet’s prices to start from under Rs 7 lakh and go up to Rs 12 lakh. In the sub-4m SUV space, the Sonet will rival the Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport.
Fact - Having sold more than 1 lakh cars in India within the first year of its market introduction, Kia be the fastest new carmaker to achieve this feat.
