by Swati Sanchayi on Thursday, Apr 19 2018

We all know that Maruti Suzuki will be revealing the 2018 Ertiga MPV at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show.  However, the details of the images and brochure of the MPV have already been leaked online ahead of its official revelation. The 2018 Suzuki Ertiga will go on sale in Indonesia in the following weeks and is also slated to come to India later this year.

According to the leaked brochure, the second generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga sports a completely new design language while carrying a few cues forward from the outgoing model, larger than its predecessor in dimensions, and now also sports a larger petrol engine in term of powertrain. Larger than the outgoing model, the upcoming Eriga will be 130 mm longer, 40 mm wider and 5 mm taller than its predecessor as per the brochure measuring 4395 mm in length, 1735 mm in width and 1690 mm in height. However, the wheelbase remains the same at 2740 mm. The boot capacity now stands at 153 litres, which can be extended to a total of 803 litres with the second and third row folded. The ground clearance on the 2018 Suzuki Ertiga has been reduced by 5 mm to 180 mm for the Indonesian market.

Underpinned by the new Heartect platform by the automaker, at the outside the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will get a wide hexagonal grille with chrome detailing and angular headlamps with projector lens, a completely new bumper, C-shaped housing for the fog lamps, muscular lines at the bonnet, larger window and larger quarter-glass. At the rear, the MPV will offer new L-shaped LED taillights, which appear to be WR-V-esque, the rear windscreen is a bit raked, license plate recess gets a chrome applique connecting the taillights, while the rear bumper has been tweaked for a slim appearance with reflectors. Other features include new 15-inch 185/R65 alloy wheels, LED high mount stop lamp and 2 point parking sensors and keyless entry.

The interior of the next-gen Ertiga will offer a new dashboard now divided in half by a faux wood insert running across the length, AC vents spanned to the entire length of the dashboard, floating infotainment system, new flat-bottom steering wheel as well as start-stop system, leather wrapped steering wheel, height adjustable driver's seat and more. However, the Indo-Japanese automaker will also offer wooden trim that is reserved for only the top-spec GX variant for the Indonesian market. Apart from these, roof-mounted AC vents for the middle row, along with 60:40 split middle row and the 50:50 split third row will be also on offer identical as the outgoing model.

Talking about the powertrain, the new Ertiga will come powered by an all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine from the K-Series family. It will be a four cylinder engine producing 103 bhp of maximum power and 138 Nm of torque. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission, and it is likely to remain the same for the Indian market too. The safety features on the Indonesia-spec Ertiga includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control and ISOFIX child seat anchors. The Indian version is also expected to offer the same.

The MPV will be offered with two new exterior color options- Metallic Magma Grey and Pearl Glorious Brown which makes the total number of exterior color options to seven. The pricing and launch details of the 2018 Ertiga is still under the cover and will be revealed only when the second-generation of the MPV will be launched officially. Firstly, the MPV will go on sale in the Indonesian market followed by the Indian launch late this year. When launched in India, the next-gen Ertiga will take against the likes of the Datsun Go Plus, Renault Lodgy and upcoming Mahindra TUV300.
