Leaked: 2019 BMW Z4 M40i Images

BMW is coming up with the new Z4 M40i in 2019 and ahead of its official debut the images of the premium vehicle got leaked online. The much-awaited new generation BMW Z4 got three pictures leaked online showing the exterior of the upcoming car. BMW’s upcoming two-seat sportscar is all set to make its world debut at the Pebble Beach on August 23.
According to the leaked images, it shows the production version of the range topping model of the car making it look quite different from the concept revealed last year at the same event. The concept showcased more aggressive front bumper with massive and well-defined air intakes, while the production version black panels located below the roadster’s kidney grilles along with some detailing at the front. The grille on the production version looks bigger in proportion to everything else in the front fascia of the Z4 Roadster and the headlights are also rounder compared to the sleek ones on the concept. Looking at the overall design, it seems as if BMW borrowed the design of the Fiat 124 Spyder and imposed its signature kidney grilles to make the Z4 look different from what it was expected to be.
Talking about the sides, the 2019 Z4 M40i looks very much refined as compared to the front. The sharp edges stick out prominently on the concept appearing to have been refined a little bit to make it look more sophisticated while losing the edginess the concept had. However, at the rear the BMW Z4 Roadster gets the best creativity from the makers. There are a lot of aggressive cuts in the body that help create a sporty and layered look that gives this section a little more ferocity to it. The rear diffuser has been designed to stand out among the entire exterior designing as it is aggressive but obnoxious. Also, the images show the good amount of glossy black accents throughout its body with some of it on the kidney grilles and around the vents of the bumper. However, earlier in June this year a series of patent images revealed the car's styling and showcased the car's swept-back headlights, flat rear lights and wide kidney grilles.
Under the hood, the new Z4 will come powered by a choice of BMW's latest turbocharged petrol engines- the turbocharged 3.0-litre engine of the M40i, pictured in the leaked images producing about 355hp, while there will also be a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder that produces about 251.4 hp to empower the Z4 30i. Both engines will come with standard rear-wheel drive and a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox. Apart from these, a full-fat M version of the Z4 is not on the cards. Also, the 2019 Z4 shares parts with the upcoming Toyota Supra following Toyota and BMW's decision to co-develop a new sports car platform earlier. However looking at the previously spied images, Toyota's new car will be a spiritual successor to the original Supra and as such will wear a hard top, while the Z4 will be a convertible.
;In India, BMW currently sells the previous-gen Z4 since the beginning of 2018. The luxurious car is offered in two variants in the country with both powered by the same 3.0-litre, straight-six, turbo-petrol engine that produces 306 hp and 400 Nm of peak torque to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox. For the 2019 BMW Z4 M40i to make its way to the Indian market, we’ll have to wait till the automaker makes any official announcement.
