Mahindra are preparing to expand their Born Electric (BE) SUV lineup with a new model based on the BE.07 concept. Expected to be called the BE 7, the upcoming electric SUV is expected to sit above the BE 6 and offer a more practical alternative within Mahindra’s BE range.

A near-production version of the BE 7 was spotted testing recently, revealing details about its exterior design and cabin. Mahindra are also expected to showcase the upcoming model at their Independence Day event on August 15, although the company is yet to officially confirm its debut timeline.
Here are the top things to know about Mahindra’s upcoming BE 7.
Mahindra have traditionally used their Independence Day event to showcase new products and technologies. The upcoming BE.07-based SUV is expected to make its debut around the company’s August 15 event this year. However, Mahindra are yet to officially confirm the BE 7’s debut or launch date.

The BE 7 will become the second model in Mahindra’s BE electric SUV lineup, which currently consists of the BE 6.
While the BE 6 focuses heavily on sporty styling, the BE 7 is expected to offer a more conventional and spacious SUV package. The spy shots confirm the BE 7 is longer with a more upright body, which should free up additional cabin space, particularly for rear passengers.
This positioning could make the BE 7 a more family-friendly alternative to the BE 6 while retaining the technology and performance associated with Mahindra’s Born Electric range.
The BE 7 is expected to retain much of the design philosophy showcased by the BE.07 concept. Spy shots suggest that Mahindra is keeping the production SUV’s angular silhouette, sharp lines and wide proportions.
Key exterior elements expected to feature on the BE 7 include:

The production model is likely to simplify some of the concept’s more dramatic design elements, but the overall silhouette is expected to remain similar.
Earlier spy shots of the BE 7 also revealed what appear to be frameless doors, which could make the BE 7 the first mainstream vehicle in India to offer this feature.
The BE 7’s cabin is expected to follow Mahindra's technology-heavy approach seen on its existing electric-origin SUVs.
Spy shots suggest that the dashboard will feature a triple screen layout consisting of three 12.3-inch screens, creating a wide, uninterrupted display panel across the dashboard. Unlike the current BE 6, the BE 7 is not expected to have the divider on the centre console that separates the driver and passenger sides.
The cabin is also expected to feature:

The BE 7 is expected to retain the steering wheel design and touch-based steering controls seen on Mahindra’s other electric SUVs such as the XEV 9E and XEV 9s.
The BE 7 is expected to use the same INGLO electric architecture and powertrain as the BE 6. Based on the information currently available, it could be offered with a 79kWh battery pack in its top variants, with rear-wheel drive. Although Mahindra are yet to confirm the final battery, motor and range specifications, the BE 7 could offer a real-world range of more than 500km.

The biggest difference between the BE 7 and BE 6 is expected to be their approach to packaging.
The BE 6’s sporty, heavily stylised body prioritises design and driving appeal, whereas the BE 7 gets a longer and more upright silhouette. This should translate into:

The BE 7 could therefore appeal to buyers who like the technology and performance of the BE 6 but want a more conventional family SUV.
The BE 7 could occupy an interesting position in Mahindra’s electric SUV lineup. The BE 6 is aimed more towards buyers looking for a sporty and distinctive electric SUV, while the XEV 9e offers a larger and more premium package. The BE 7 could bridge the gap between the two by combining the BE 6’s technology and performance-oriented character with a more practical body. This could give Mahindra a broader spread of electric SUVs while allowing each model to target a different type of buyer.
Once launched, the BE 7 is expected to compete with upcoming and existing electric SUVs in the segment. Its potential rivals could include the Tata Sierra EV, VinFast VF7 and electric SUVs positioned around the Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 35 lakh price range.
Mahindra are expected to reveal more details about the BE.07-based SUV around their Independence Day event on August 15, 2026. The final production name, specifications, variants, pricing and launch timeline are yet to be officially confirmed.
