Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the Marazzo MPV recently in the country. According to the recentl reports, the automaker has announced that it will hike prices of its new Marazzo MPV by about Rs 30,000-40,000 (depending on the variant) from January 1, 2019. The MPV currently comes priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 13.90 lakh (ex- showroom, India). After the price hike, the starting price of the new MPV is expected to go over Rs 10.29 lakh, while the top- spec variant will be priced around Rs 14.2 lakh (ex- showroom, India).
The Mahindra Marazzo is offered in four variants: M2, M4, M6 and M8, and has already garnered more than 10,000 bookings so far. The manufacturer has also added Apple CarPlay connectivity with the MPV though limited only to the top- spec M8 variant. Mahindra is offering six exterior color options to choose from- Mariner Maroon, Shimmering Silver, Aqua Marine, Oceanic Black, Iceberg White and Poseidon Purple. The Marazzo is based on a brand new platform and marks Mahindra’s re-entry into the premium MPV segment. It took Mahindra four years and 1,000 man hours to develop the vehicle, and is claimed not to share any parts with other product from the Indian manufacturer.
In terms of design, the newly launched Mahindra Marazzo according to the name gets a shark- inspired design that can be seen in the streamlined and aerodynamic shape, in the front grille inserts as well as in the overall silhouette which resemble shark- like teeth and adds to the vehicle's aggressive stance while the crease lines flow into the tail lamps that come inspired by the tail of a shark. Talking about the features, the base variant of the 2018 Mahindra Marazzo gets AC vents for all three rows with power windows and central locking, while the upgraded M4 variant offers additional roof-mounted antenna, wheel covers for the 16-inch steel wheels, an audio system with USB and Aux compatibility, power adjustable wing mirrors, driver’s seat height adjust and a rear wiper over the base variant.
On the other hand, the mid-spec M6 offers all the features sported by the M4 along with 16- inch alloy wheels, projector headlamps with a follow-me-home function, front and rear fog lamps, keyless entry, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and steering mounted audio controls. On the other hand, the top-spec M8 variant will be offered with LED DRLs and 17- inch alloy wheels on the outside, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility for the infotainment system with voice recognition, automatic climate control, cruise control and power folding wing mirrors along with all the features available with every trim of the MPV.
Mechanically, the all-new Mahindra MPV offers Mahindra’s new 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine capable of making 121 hp of maximum power and 300 Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The company will introduce the petrol and automatic variants with BS VI emission norms rollout in 2020 in the Indian market. All the four variants of the 2018 Marazzo come with ABS with EBD and brake assist, two airbags and Isofix child seat mounts as standard, while the top-spec M8 also gets a rear parking camera and parking sensors and the M6 misses out on the camera though.
The Marazzo has been developed by the Mahindra's North American Technical Centre (MNATC) in Troy, Michigan, and is the first vehicle to be designed here. The same centre will be responsible for the development of future Mahindra vehicles for both Indian and international markets.
