Under the hood, the Scorpio S9 trim comes powered by a 2.2- litre mHawk turbocharged diesel engine that empowers all the other Scorpio variants. While the engine produces 120 bhp and 280 Nm for the S3 and S5 trims mated to a five- speed manual transmission, the S7 can be ordered in either the same state of tune or in a 140 hp and 320 Nm version with a 6- speed manual transmission. However, for S9 and S11, the engine is capable of making 140 hp of maximum power and 320 NM of peak torque mated to a six- speed manual transmission only. However, a Four Wheel Drive system is available exclusively on the top-spec S11 trim.

Also, the SUV continues to be offered in the seven- seater avatar with the front facing third row, making it a lucrative choice in this space. On the other hand, the safety features include Dual Front Airbags, ABS, Front Fog Lamps, Anti-Theft Warning, Panic Brake Indication and Engine Immobilizer.

The SUV rivals the likes of the Renault Duster and Captur, the Honda BR-V and the Hyundai Creta along with the arch rival Tata Safari Storme.

Now, Mahindra is working on the launch of the Indian- spec Ssangyong Rexton based Alturas SUV. The SUV is slated for 24th November launch in the Indian market. The SUV has created the buzz in the market for quite a long time and will take against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. This will be the first time Mahindra will be entering the high- end SUV segment and also the first time a Mahindra vehicle will carry a name that doesn't end in 'O'.  Also, Mahindra dealerships will be upgraded and a separate premium designated area will be constructed inside the existing Mahindra dealerships to sell the new Alturas G4. These will be called as the new World of SUVs’ dealerships. Stay tuned to for further updates on the upcoming Mahindra Alturas SUV in the Indian market.
