Maruti Arena C-SUV To Launch On September 3: What We Know So Far | V3Cars

Although Maruti Suzuki have commenced production of the eVitara in Gujarat, the brand has delayed its launch yet again due to shortage of key components. However, Maruti Suzuki do not plan to sit still ahead of the 2025 festive season as they have confirmed the launch of a new C-SUV on September 3.

Maruti Arena C-SUV To Launch On September 3 – What We Know So Far

The new C-SUV, which aims to topple the Hyundai Creta from the top of the SUV sales chart, will go on sale via Maruti’s Arena retail chain. This move is aimed at making it more accessible than Grand Vitara, which retails via Maruti’s premium Nexa dealerships.

Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming Maruti C-SUV:

Upcoming Maruti Arena C-SUV To Undercut Maruti Nexa Grand Vitara

Currently, Maruti Nexa’s flagship SUV, the Grand Vitara, is priced from Rs. 11.42 lakh to Rs. 20.52 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, Maruti Arena’s flagship SUV, the Brezza, is priced from Rs. 8.69 lakh to Rs. 14.14 lakh.

We expect the new Arena C-SUV to slot in between these 2 SUVs with an expected price ranging from Rs. 9.99 lakh to Rs. 18.5 lakh (ex-showroom). With a sub-Rs. 10 lakh starting price, Maruti hope to draw customers away from the best-selling Hyundai Creta, which is priced from Rs. 11.11 lakh to Rs. 20.50 lakh. Together with the Grand Vitara and the upcoming C-SUV, Maruti may finally topple the Hyundai Creta for good. That said, the new C-SUV could potentially eat into the sales of the Brezza, which is already a tad expensive for its segment.

Maruti Arena C-SUV Likely To Share Its Engines With Grand Vitara

Although Maruti Suzuki haven’t yet revealed the powertrain specifications of their upcoming C-SUV, we expect it to share the same engine and transmission options as the Brezza and Grand Vitara.

Like the Brezza LXi and VXi, the base variant of the C-SUV could offer a 1.5L normal petrol engine without the mild-hybrid setup. We expect this variant to be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Higher variants could come with the Grand Vitara’s 1.5L normal petrol engine with mild-hybrid system. This engine is offered with the option of a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter (TC) automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the top variant could feature the Grand Vitara’s 1.5L petrol-hybrid setup with a CVT automatic transmission. We do not expect Maruti Suzuki to offer the Grand Vitara’s petrol mild hybrid with all-wheel-drive option with the upcoming C-SUV.

Additionally, the Maruti Arena C-SUV could also offer the brand’s 1.5L CNG bi-fuel engine with the 5-speed manual for buyers who want to lower their monthly running costs.

Here are the specifications of the engines mentioned above:

We expect the Maruti Arena’s upcoming C-SUV to offer similar mileage as the Grand Vitara with which it shares its platform. For reference, the Grand Vitara’s petrol mild hybrid delivers 21.11kmpl and 20.58kmpl with the manual and automatic transmission, respectively. The strong hybrid powertrain returns 27.97kmpl whereas the CNG bi-fuel option delivers 26.60km/kg.

2025 Maruti Arena C-SUV Expected Features

We expect the top variant of the upcoming Maruti Arena C-SUV to offer similar features as the Grand Vitara and Brezza, including:

  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Head-up Display
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Leather upholstery
  • 360-degree surround view camera
  • 7-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless phone charger
