Maruti Suzuki Baleno has achieved the milestone of selling more than 5 lakh units in the Indian market. What makes it more special for the manufacturer is that the premium hatchback has achieved the milestone in a record time of just 38 months and became the fastest to do so. The new model of Baleno was launched in the country in October 2015 and the premium hatchback has successfully posted a 20.4 per cent growth in sales in the April- October period this fiscal, according to the company.
Expressing his joy on Baleno achieving this milestone, R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki, said, "Baleno has become a resounding success in the highly competitive premium hatchback segment. It is a testimony of our best in class technology and customer experience. Our engineers have ensured that Baleno offers superior ride and handling, class leading performance and safety. With a staggering 20.6 per cent growth in the first half of 2018- 19, Baleno has been among the top selling cars in India, since 2016. We are grateful for our customers' constant support that has made Baleno India's most preferred premium hatchback."
Available in four variants- Sigma (base), Delta, Zeta and Alpha (top), the Maruti Suzuki Baleno prices starts from Rs 5.38 lakh and goes up to Rs 8.49 lakh (ex- showroom, Delhi). The premium hatchback by Maruti Suzuki comes powered by a 1.2- litre petrol engine with 82 bhp of maximum power and 115 Nm of peak torque and a 1.3- litre diesel engine producing 73 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to a 5- speed manual transmission as standard. However, the petrol motor also comes with an option of a CVT automatic. The Maruti Baleno is claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 21.4 kmpl for petrol MT and CVT as well as 27.39 kmpl for diesel trims.
Talking about the features, the existing Maruti Suzuki Baleno offers a 7- inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, passive keyless entry system with push- button start and auto projector headlamps with LED DRLs. Maruti Suzuki also offers e Suzuki Connect package to keep track of various telematics of your Baleno via an app on your smartphone. In terms of safety features, the hatchback comes equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard across the range. Additionally, the automaker also offers reverse parking sensors and a rearview camera in the top- spec trims.
Going by the milestone, the Baleno hatchback has a monthly sales average of 13,157 units or a daily average of 438 cars. Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback is a regular on the top 10 monthly sales chart as well. Being manufactured exclusively in India, Baleno is also the first car to be exported from our market to Japan. Maruti retails the Baleno from its premium Nexa outlets and it has also received a strong response in international markets such as Australia, Europe, Latin America and East Asia.
