The news regarding the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny has been making rounds for quite some time, and now the company has finally released the official images of the SUV revealing almost all the details that we need to know, except the engine specification. The small 4X4 SUV by Maruti Suzuki is all set to make its world debut on 5th July 2018. With this, the 2018 Jimny will get its much awaited update after almost 20 years since the last Jimny was launched.

In terms of looks and design, the images reveal that the next- gen Jimny will offer a number of cosmic changes as compared to the existing model. Though, the new 4x4 Suzuki Jimny retains the boxy design and the squarish window, giving it an impression of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, in terms of changes it gets the iconic five-slot grille finished in matte black, a pair of classic round headlamps, individual turn indicators and a black heavy duty front bumper with a wide central air-dam along with round foglamps on either end. The SUV will ride on either 15-inch or 16-inch, black five-spoke alloy wheels and the boxy wheel arches making it more masculine on terms of looks.

Not only the exterior but the interior of the upcoming Jimny has also received major updates in the form of completely redesigned cabin featuring a larger SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system as well as centre aircon vents similar to the ones seen in the Ignis, while the automatic climate control has been carried forward from the Swift. However, other highlights such as keyless entry, engine start-stop button and automatic headlamps will be offered on the top-spec models only.

In terms of size, the fourth- generation Jimny SUV measures 3,300 mm in length, 1,475 mm in width, and 1,715 mm in height with the wheelbase standing at 2,250 mm, while the range topping Jimny Sierra is 300 mm longer and comes with flared wheel arches that has extended its width by 125 mm as compared to the base model. The upcoming SUV by Maruti Suzuki will be offered both in single and dual color tone options. The Jungle Green, Medium Gray, Blue Ish Black Pearl, Silky Silver Metallic, Spare White, Pure White Pearl will be the options for the single tone lovers while those looking for dual color tones can choose from either of the Kinetic Yellow, Chiffon Ivory and Blyisque Blue Metallic color options. The dual tone color options will be available only on the range topping variants.

However, before releasing the official images of Jimny the official brochure of the upcoming Jimny got leaked online revealing all the details about the SUV. As Maruti Suzuki haven’t revealed the powertrain specifications, according to the brochure, the 2018 Suzuki Jimny will come powered by a 0.66-litre turbocharged, three-cylinder petrol engine, while the Jimny Sierra will get a 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 100 bhp. Both the engines will come mated to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission along with Suzuki's Allgrip Pro 4x4 system for improved capabilities.

The next-gen Jimny will be offered in two versions - the Standard base model and a slightly bigger and more equipped Jimny Sierra. Both the versions will be available in three variants each - XG, XL and XC. Though, there was no certainty regarding the all new Jimny making its way to the Indian market, but if everything goes well, the Indo-Japanese automaker will bring the SUV in India by 2019.
