In this May 2023 Toyota car sales analysis article, we’ll look at the car sales of Toyota for the previous month. We’ll also compare the YoY and MoM change to find out which Toyota cars’ sales improved and which ones declined. Lastly, the table with monthly sales for the last 6 months will give you an idea about the 6-month sales trend of all Toyota cars.
May 2023 - Toyota Car Sales Figures - YoY Change
- Urban Cruiser dispatches declined over the last few months and in November for the first time, Toyota dispatched zero units of B2-segment SUV. It was discontinued by the carmaker soon after.
- Among the mass-market offerings from the carmaker, the Fortuner was the top YoY gainer, with a growth of 144%.
- Glanza reported a growth of 75.44% in May YoY comparison analysis, whereas Camry premium sedan reported a 34% YoY growth in May
- Innova dispatches dropped by 184% in May 2023 compared to May 2022, but it has become the top-selling car for Toyota after the generation update and introduction of the Hycross flavour of the Innova.
- Speaking of low-volume Toyotas, the Hilux saw a YoY decline of 361% in May 2023 comparison and was the top loser in Toyota’s stable, followed by Vellfire MPV, which saw an 88.64% drop in sales numbers.

May 2023 - Toyota Car Sales Figures - MoM Change
- Most mass-market cars from Toyota saw a decline in MoM sales comparison for May 2023, with the exception of Glanza and Hilux.
- The Glanza witnessed a MoM sales growth of about 42% and was the top gainer, whereas the Hilux reported a 11.52% growth in MoM comparison analysis.
- The Innova reported the worst decline figures among mass-market cars from Toyota, with 61% plus MoM drop.
